bethere block port 25....does anyone know if its the only blocked port?..in other words if i configure an external server to listen on another port is it certain to be ok and unblocked for use as an smtp server?

Port 25 is only blocked for dynamic IP addresses. That is all the port blocking they do.

yeah i know u can get round it with a static but theres many reasons not to have a static...as long as thats all they do then its just a matter of switching ports...

Be's dynamic IPs are also not really that dynamic either.

If you're hosting something surely its best to have a static IP anyway?

Some sort of sticky ip system.

Definitely not. People have turned their modem off before going on holiday and return 2 weeks later to the same IP address.

Most ISP's wont give you a new IP address on a reconnect, you are leased that IP for x amount of time, at which point renews and changes.

theres many more reasons to have a static.
