Keeps dropping the connection to hardrives every so often. Anyone had this problem before? It's annoying when its a storage drive but its really annoying when its the C drive.

Using Vista 64.

Is this a Mobo RMA or a more trivial problem?

Have a look in the advance power options, your hard discs might be set to shut down after a period of time.

My Laptop does this to conserve power.

I had this with my Samsung 1TB F1s, I had to buy a raid card in the end. Google it, they are a huge number of problems with the P5K Premium etc and large capacity sata HDs :(

What drives you using out of interest?

Hey this is my mobo posted by Adrian on my behalf, The port that was failing was one of the Jmicron ones but when I run both hd's in raid they are detected fine just not on there own... This is weird because I've run an esata drive from the back before and its worked fine...

I think the board is just very tempremental... Need to look at a board thats worth upgrading to, but its pretty hard.

I'd want the raid 0 to be 100% on the new board
built in wifi
2 lan ports
no sli or xfire
great onboard sound so i dont have to use my 7.1 creative card anymore
good clockability on air

the raid and wifi parts are the most importiant for me to part with cash... any ideas? I was looking at the gigabyte extreme but £149 seems a lot of cash just to get raid working good... should i just get a controller card or are the £50 ones crap?

hey yep its deffo not the sata cable, it seems like the mobo has trouble seeing single drives on the jmicron and either decides to show or not to yet when its raided it shows everytime...

this is fine by me but like in my post in the harddrives section the jmicron seems tempremental on raid 0 :/
