My sister has a Ford Puma and is forever complaining about the lack of brightness from the dipped headlights. I have been given the job of sourcing brighter replacements but have no idea which bulbs to go for.

Any suggestions?

"Philips Xtreme Power" and "Osram Nightbreakers" are the only ones worth bothering with if you don't want to spend load's on a full HID conversion. The cheap copies on eBay are rubbish, go for the proper ones.

Are the Phillips the ones they sell in Halfords?

I still highly rate the Nightbreakers.
Despite what many seem to say I do question if they have actually tried them as the difference when I fitted them was very noticeable.

i agree, they're a lot better than whatever was in my car from before.
although i have noticed that unless i adjust the lights down into position I, i get flashes from oncoming drivers.. perhaps i ****ed something up when i changed the bulbs :/

Nope, I've got Philips Xtreme Power bulbs in my Honda and the alignment is fine - it's passed a couple of MOTs since, yet I still get the odd flash. Idiots. ;)

Puma's are known for their poor headlights - it's more of the design of the headlamp itself rather than what bulbs are in it from what I've read. :(

^ Not good to hear... had acquired a pair of Puma headlights which I was going to steal the lamp units from to fit into another vehicle to improve the headlights like I did with mine...

flashing you because they are blinded by your bulbs makes them idiots?

Yes, my bulbs are no worse than bloody Range Rovers and other such huge vehicles with uber xenons. They're correctly aimed, and I wasnt using high beams so theres no need to flash me :p

I've used the philips ones and/or whatever the high powered ones are that they sell in halfords, they do make a difference but not nearly enough difference on the road as i you would hope they would.
Have heard only great things about the osram nightbreakers however, unfortunately never had a chance to try them.

Get some HIDS i got mine for £35 inc postage ! The puma evan has the projector style headlights !!! A further £10 was spent on some sidelight bulbs - LED white and now not only can i see better it looks cool ;)
