Flats - and why people insist on doing noisy things in the morning!

Not trying to be rude but I dont really think there is anything wrong with hoovering at that sort of time.....some people like to get their chores done early in the morning!

I had Polish people above me that would play music so loud you could see ripples in drinks forming (like in jurasic park) at 2 in the morning. When I went up to tell them to turn it down they said....'no'. (I went apeshit and sorted it but thats beside the point).

Thats antisocial

you cant have it both ways. they dont think music at 2am is unreasonable but you think hovering early in the morning when most people would still be asleep is? thats not really fair is it? im lucky, i live in a oldschool brick and motar 3 story block of flats, im sure it'd be far worse for people living in a new block made from paper and glue lol

The problem you have is that you have morning people and evening people. Morning people will probably be up at or before 07:30 even on the weekend and will see no problem in vacuuming at 08:30, they wont want to creep around for half the morning just because someone else didn't go to bed until 02:00, and quite frankly why should they ... most normal people, (i.e. those who are not students or young singles with no responsibilities), are up and around by that time.

i am considerate and do exactly that. i dont put my washing machine on at 10 at night because its noisy and i know the guys below get up about 4 in the morning on the weekdays. just like i wouldnt play music at two in the morning or hoover at 8. its not really that hard and this **** other people why should i care attitude really grates me.

Personally I try not to do noisy things on a Saturday morning before 09:30-10:30 but that's really because that when I get back from doing everything I need to do down town .... even so I have had a neighbor before now who used to get stroppy if I out the washing machine on at 10:30 on a Saturday morning (tough the lazy cow was told!).

I have things to do tomorrow morning so I'll be up by 07:30 at the latest, nothing I'll be doing is particularly noisly but I'm not going out my way to be quiet.

I'm not asking people to creep around? I'm usually awake at 6:15 on weekdays to get into work on time. But that involved having a shower, making breakfast and leaving. I don't start hovering, playing the bongo's, inviting 10 thousand people into my flat. I just can't see why they need to hoover at that time. I means not like they restrict into to their own flat, they hoover the carpet outside there flat! It's insane! I'm going to start hoovering at 3:50AM each and everyday and see how they like it

I don't think 8:30am is early for any day to be honest, and I'm definitely not a morning person!

8.30am is not early in the morning though. Are 'most people' really still asleep at that time?

I think you are overreacting a little ;)

It depends, on the weekend then I'd say there was a fair chance that many people would be, during the week they probably aren't. I try to enjoy a lie-in at the weekends anyway even though I usually find myself waking up about the normal time anyway.

on a saturday most probably. i shouldn't have to be woken up at that time if ive been getting up at 5 during the week :)

I find it hard to believe someone could be woken up by hoovering, unless they are banging the hoover into the walls or something. I always sleep with good earplugs because given that I live in a block of flats, there's always some sort of noise around and unfortunately you can't expect the rest of the building to be silent while you sleep.

8.30am surely represents quite a major lie-in for most working people doesn't it?

no you cant, but you can expect the same consideration you give them. Beisdes you sleep with earplugs, that says it all :p OP also said they hoovered outside in the corridoor which you're probably aware would be extremely annoying lol

It would be about 45 minutes for me from when I've got to get up for work, I live pretty close to the centre of town though. I still know several people who will lie in beyond 11am easily on a weekend and most are in current full time employment.

Yeah this is pretty much typical I think for under 30's.

I guess I'm still fuming from last weekend when aforementioned couple who invite half of Bristol around on Sunday mornings friends buzzed EVERYONE's flat (at 7AM) because they didn't know which flat they lived in........ seriously I was about |<--->| that far from shoving blunt spoons in their eyes, TBH I think I'd have got off with just aggravated assault :p

Invest in some earplugs... hoovering, buzzers and most other stuff will never disturb your sleep again. Either that or put up with it because you'll never get them to change.

I don't think other people should have to creep around because some people have a night out on Friday or Saturday so want extra time in bed. 8:30 is probably an extra hour and a half in bed at least for most people. What is far more inconsiderate is people coming in at 3 am and making noise. Not that I'm bothered, I can sleep through anything.

I do found it funny that peoples perception of when is ok to make noise seems to be changing due to the fact some people choose to stay out as late as possible. It's extremely arrogant to expect other peoples lives to fit in around yours.

Some people want to get stuff done before enjoying the rest of their day doing things other than chores. Flats are a pain for noise but 8:30 isn't too early for people to be getting stuff done.

Thankfully I now live in a house where only one room as connecting walls to next door and that the walls, built during the Victorian era are about a million feet thick.

I used to live in a flat so I know what it is like but as for the OP he's just going to have to get used to it - go to bed earlier! :p
