Hi all,

More and more I keep hearing about people losing jobs and company's cutting staff etc... and it's just so sad thinking how many families will be in a crisis.

Would you be able to survive if you lost your job?

Nope not at all - I would have to move back in with my parents (assuming I couldnt find something else). I would hate to have a new family / mortgage right now

My GF would love it, because then she would say we can move back up north to her home town and i can get a new job there.

I wish i was lying too :(

I'm in debt, I couldn't.
I don't know what I would do and all I'm doing now is paying off debt.
Probably would have to sell my car.
:(

I'd probably have to move back with my parents and rent my flat out. That said that's the end game anyway. How soon it happens would depend on whether or not I could find a similar spec'd job in a decent enough time.

My other half earns enough to cover the mortgage and then some anyway, so with enough belt tightening we'd be fine until I could find a new job.

whilst im at uni i should be fine. but seeing as i only have around 10weeks left...i'll be screwed after

Rent to pay.
TV to pay off.

How screwed? Hmmm... I'd say royally. Touch wood I'll be ok as we have work coming out of our ears a lot of the time.

Short term I would be ok, obviously it would have a huge effect on my life, but I would survive. In the long term it would be a lot different. I'd still have bills to pay, but I would take any (legit) work to be honest if I lost my job, theres no shame in doing what it takes to survive!

It's incredibly unlikly i would lose my job here, but if i ever did i would get another straight away as i have been told by the MD of an IT consultancy company that they would give me a job in the event of that happening :p

I just had a letter through today from my work talking about bringing in consultants, looking as saving costs, etc. We've already laid off about 12 people, and I'm shaking in my boots even though my boss has said I'm quite insulated from these lay-offs.

I would be screwed royally, and I doubt the ex would like it because I pay her loads in Child Support.

I'm sure I would survive.

b) I'd get another job

Unless you have no qualifications or are maybe a student, it seems people dont want to employ people.
I cant get a shop job or a simple admin job, even though there are evidently plenty out there!

Not if nobody's hiring because of the recession you won't

there will always be someone hiring regardless.

maybe not in the field your after, but if you just need to keep paying the bills until something more suitable comes along....
