I'm going to do my DAS soon and have been shopping around. From what I can see they seem to be a fairly professional outfit. I have been quoted £545 including CBT, test fee and bike/gear hire. The guy I spoke to said that I could do my CBT on the Suzuki GS500. It'll be done over 4 days. CBT on the first day, 2 days of training and the test of the 4th day.

Does this sound reasonable? Has anyone used them and if so what do you think? Any other alternatives in Hampshire?

Thanks.

I take it you have the moped entitlement from your old car licence (i.e. pre Feb-2001 when they changed the rules) otherwise you shouldn't be on the GS500 at all on your CBT - t'would be totally illegal!

Come to think of it, if you have the old car licence with moped entitlement you don't need to do your CBT at all.

Nope, I have a NI licence which doesn't require a CBT, however in order to do the DAS I think I need the CBT.

If you don't need to do a CBT, why art thou paying for one, my good Scuzi sir?

(Price sounds roughly appropriate, down here in grotty ol' Plymouth I paid ~360 for 3 days training, test and bike hire.)

Because although I don't (or didn't?) need a CBT to ride a 125 when I turned 17, I believe I need a CBT certificate to apply for the full test.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not 100% clear on how it works over here.

Quick Google and it appears you don't need one to ride a moped, but you do need one to do the test. Odd but hey :)

Like I said, price seems to be a bit steep for CBT + 2 days training/hire + test, but maybe that's just the regional difference.

my DAS training came to £580 including everything

CBT, some tuition, theory test and practical.

i spread mine out over a month or so rather than cramming into 3 days, this was highly recommended by both the bike school (despite them making more money off people cramming - due to higher fail rates) and the local biking 'scene'

cant give you an opnion of the bike school, but i would say you get what you pay for... if they are the cheapest in the area there is always a reason for that.

school i went with were about £15 a 'session' more expensive than all the others in the area but they have a higher pass rate to reflect that as well as being a easy going school. (Valley Bike School - for anyone looking to learn in the area around rossendale)
