is it worth going from 280gtx oc to 285 gtx

New GTX285 has 8% better performance in average than 280, so depends on game it will give you probably 1-10FPS...I don't think you will see the difference :)

If you have already 280 don't bother yourself...if you just thinking what to buy now go for 285 as is cooler for about 10c with lower power consumption (285 ~= 260 with temperature and power consumption imo)

regards

if u can run sli u be better getting another gtx280 maybe? cheaper and bigger performance gains. providing ur mobo supports it and psu is man enough

nope not worth it, but how often do we upgrade bcause it's 'worth it' ?

I just went from a GTX 260-216 to a 4870x2, at nearly twice the price lol, worth it ? hell no. But I'm happy with it non the less.

Just go with your gut instinct. If you really want a GTX 285 then buy 1 :)

Sidegrade territory mate. Buy a 285 if you want; you'll enjoy it for a few weeks but then realise it hasn't brough anything better to the table.

I'd agree with this. The only real upgrade paths from a GTX280 are the GTX295 and 4870 X2.

Yep a pointless 'upgrade' if ever I saw.

I wouldn't even bother with a 295 tbh, I'll just get the top GT300 card whenever it arrives later in the year.

Looking at the same time to build a watercooled i7 rig. :)
