Sounds about right really. Thats what a garage would charge for simple things. You could do half of that yourself and save yourself some money

what?

he changed the oil and filter, spark plugs and pollen filter. (£50 for the bits, at the very most, so just prey they put the right bits in)

topped up screen wash/ coolant/ brake fluid if necessary (cost = nothing)

then glanced at a load of things for you

thats a rip off, big big style

very expensive, i've paid £160 at a dealer before and my friend with a zetec S diesel pays about £120 for a full service. Ring around some dealers.

G/f just paid £175 for a full service on a 1.25 05 plate MK6 at a dealers and I thought that was a rip off. So does sound expensive.

My Focus ST3 is getting serviced on Monday for £20 more that what you have been quoted to put it in perspective :)

If he actually did all that work, there's nothing wrong with that price. A full service to most means changing the oil, filter and air filter.

Of course, you coulda done it all yourself for about 70 notes but who wants to **** about with brake drums on their driveway in the snow?

Spark plugs honda give you for S2000 service are priced at 90quid a set! Can find them for much cheaper if you look around :P

Personally for all that lot from a mate i wouldnt expect to pay more than 100quid for a fiesta, depending on price of oil that is, can easily spend 50quid on good quality oil alone!

for whats being done and lots of simple work? they only did 4 things and then glance over the car

there is very little glancing. a lot of thing have to be checked, cleaned and adjusted. Setting up the adjustment of the rear brakes and resetting the handbrake can take upto a hour to get perfect on its own.

many people think they are doing the services themselves on there own car but in reality they are just changing a few items and have no idea what a real service entails and completely miss the many things that have to be checked in a service.

a emissions check isnt required by the service schedule and is often a additional charge, a ecu regulated injected engine doesnt need the emissions adjustments that carb cars do on servicing.

around £180 is near enough correct with a pollen filter.

ill bet good money that they didnt even touch the handbrake other than to apply it when they parked the car on the lift.

£180 is near enough correct with a pollen filter? a pollen filter makes sod all difference money wise, they cost about £3. have you ever had a car serviced?

you really have no idea what your talking about have you.

yes i have had a car serviced, i service all my own cars which makes sense considering its part of my job.

btw a fram pollen filter RRP is £12.50

lol what a coincidence, my handbrake needed adjusting when i had my service on my fiesta.

AGAIN do NOT pay more than £150 unless something is way wrong, and that is at a Ford Dealer.
