Hiphop fans in here?

17 pages and not one mention of DAS EFX or EPMD. :(
EPMD definitely deserve a mention, that whole Hit Squad connection with Eric and Parrish, Redman and Keith Murray was massive. EPMD album last year after a 9-year gap wasn't bad either.

I'll throw a few alternative 90s cuts into the mix though..

^ Possibly the most emotive hip-hop tune ever.

^ If I had to pick one tune this would probably be it. Should say remix, nothing like the album version.

^ I rocked this album so hard at the time. Shame it flopped, they got screwed up money wise and all fell out :D

Anyone else checked out Murs? Just listening to the 'Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition' album. T'is gooood.

Likin that Haiku D'Etat too. Nice drums.

Did anyone buy LL Cool Js Exit 13? I thought it was LL back to his best. You better watch me was a awesome track, great beat and LL sounding raw again! Only problem i had with the album was the Baby remix...seriously wtf :p

Here's a rough list of what I listen to fairly frequently. Excludes some big names, but there's a pretty broad coverage in there:

Outkast, old school Common, The Roots, Rhymefest, Sole, Atmosphere, P.O.S, Zion I, Muja Messiah, Murs, Talib Kweli, cadence weapon, Jedi Mind Tricks, Eyedea & Abilities, Toki Wright, Brother Ali, The Coup, Bone Thugz N Harmony, R.A. The Rugged Man, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Ill Bill, Sabac, Non Phixion, Tupac, Ugly Duckling, Mac Lethal, Ludacris, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Nas, Army of the Pharoahs, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Apathy, CunninLynguists, Jay-Z, P.O.S, Mobb Deep, Dan the Automator, D-12, Gang Starr, Ghostface Killah, ODB, Method Man, Hieroglyphics, MF Doom, Madlib, Sandpeople, Public Enemy, Immortal Technique, Classified, People Under the Stairs, Naughty By Nature, Run DMC, Clipse, Beastie Boys, KRS-One, Celph Titled, Ultramagnetic MCs, Reef The Lost Cauze, Little Brother, Jesse Dangerously

If you're looking for something new, in a broadly 'respectable' sense (i.e. not DMX :p) then jump right in at a random name you don't recognise :)

It wasnt really about money that they fell out, Charlie Brown was ****ed that Busta was being lined up for a solo career, although if i remember correctly, Busta was not doing that himself, the industry was, it all came to a head on Yo! MTV raps and Brown walked off. A real shame as they were my favorite band of all time, the second album T.I.M.E. was incredible and has a few of my alltime favorite tracks on it.

They played a gig in glasgow once that was not advertised at all, it was at the Barrowland ballroom, and only about 300 of us turn up, Busta, Dingo, Milo and Charlie Brown stood in the middle of the ballroom, no one would go to them, so i walked over and started talking to busta, my mate spoke to brown, then everyone descended, it was just after they had done the spring break thing they used to do on MTV and i chatted to Busta about that. Good memories, Hijack were supporting that day and they put on an incredible show as usual.

Incidentally, is there any better hip hop video than The Pharycde's drop?

Please post it if you think so!

This thread has finally came to life thanks to the youtube embeds :)

Same, that album is probably my most coveted bit of vinyl, for 1993 it was so advanced.

Title track is the one that does it for me.
