This just goes to show that there's always a price to pay for switching your folding PC(s) 'not on'.

PARRRRP... PAAARRP!!

Mr Million you have less than one week to crunch your way up the foldy road away from me. I am accelerating towards you at a considerable rate.

You've been on the horizon for so long I might even shed a tear after I pass...

..yeah right :D

...........and of course, as soon as I do the parp the southbridge heatsink falls off my folding rigs mobo.

I broke the zalman one I had on there previously in order to remove it without taking the board out of the case now this crappy akasa one im using has lost it's stickiness and won't stick back on. :(

I can get you some heatsink glue (Permanently glue it on, and I do mean permanent) but I will need it returning.

Very nice of you to offer. I've superglued it and so far so good.

Oh and... what.. what is this!?*

*apart from being not very well lapped

It is done! STOMP STOMP STOMP

The shiny thing above ended up fending off pirates in R@H but I'm itching to get it folding. I've now got virtual box installed and it's just a matter of time before i start the long trudge from 13th to the top 10.

Well, you'd better extract your digit as I should be looming large in your rear-view mirror. I really expected you to be safely out of the way when I stomped Dreeder but......

I'm having some problems. I switched my motherboard so I could take my folding box from just 2 GPUs folding to 2 GPUs and a quad core but now my GPUs are each doing 1000ppd less than they were before and I've only just got the SMP folding started... pesky pirates

Sometimes when I try to solve the problem of low ppd on the gpus the PC stays 'not on' for a while because I run out of patience.

How low is low? My gpus range from around 4K to 5K depending on the work unit. I only get the [swear]"not-on"[/swear] when the wife tries to rdp to the box.

That's with the same WUs (all 4 kinds I tested). Old board was a AN8-SLI socket 939 (nforce 4 chipset) board the one im using now is a Asus P5K socket 775 (P35 chipset). I know that a single GPU in the P35 board will perform as well as either of the two GPUs in the old setup. However once I have two cards in the P35 board the ppds fall. I have disabled the PCI-E 1x slot to give me PCI-E 4x in the 2nd GPU slot so that is not the issue. I have also ruled out the possibility of different shader processor counts hampering the 2nd cards ppd by taking out my GS and putting both my 8800GTs into the folding PC. I have also raised the priority of the GPU clients so that they are getting enough CPU time.

I was very close to buying an AMD board I could put all three of my GPUs in but decided to buy an Intel quad core instead as I had the P5K mobo spare. I should be putting out 12k ppd from my folding PC alone (2x 8800GTs and a heavily overclocked Q9300)

No 4x is fine for folding. You only see a small ppd hit at 2x. Also the card in the 16x slot is down by a similar amount of ppd. I wonder if anyone else on here is folding with 2 card in a P35 board..?

I have 4 9800 GT's in 4 x4 slots and they seem to perform as well if not better than my old 9600GSO and 8800GT
