Yeah I know, I was only commenting on the price of this particular kit. I myself bought some ddr3 recently (dual channel, not triple), so I know how the prices are falling.

£400 and there is only 6GB of it?! Seriously?!

My 6GB DDR3 was less than half that, it may not be as fast but the difference won't be enough to justify the enormous price difference.

For £400 the look of it is pretty pony!
i know it aint about looks but if i spend that much i want my ram to have loads of added fancy bits attached to it !

LOL...keep in mind that DDR2000 parts are not the super high volume parts people put into email and web surfing machines. Kits like this are made for crazy high OCing.

I'd stick to DDR1600 for an i7, with DDR2000 you'd need a 4000Mhz Uncore and 8000Mhz QPI which I believe is right at the theoretical limits of its capability.

you are sort of correct - but most x58 chipset boards can do that easily

i benchmarked this ram today at above 2000mhz

i had it running at 2100MHz using 8-8-8-22 timings

check it out in my memory showdown thread

so yes it is pushing the limits

but it gives you stupidly low timings for 2GHz of memory speed

the bandwidth is 33GB/s+

if you are buying this memory - you are obviously going to know what you are doing

so you will probably have to cooling and knowhow to achieve this

i understand what you are saying about 1600mhz parts
i have 1600mhz dominator in my rig

but it pales into comparison to this stuff

i think the price is fair for what it can do

[cheaper than the competitors too ;)]

good work AndyOcUK

ALSO - the PCB on the modules is BLACK not green like it shows in the pic

which makes it look very very nice

apologies for my appauling photography - the works camera isnt great :(
