Anyone seen those Jordan's country crisp adverts where they state quite proudly that their cereal is "Baked by Eye".

What in God's name is that supposed to mean, do they have a bunch of superheroes on their production line baking cereal with laser vision?

There's no set time, it's simply baked until it looks like it's done, surely?

They stare at the crisps and concentrate really hard to pass the energy from the brain into the crisps to heat them.

I think that means they don't have a set amount in Grams of each thing, ie fruits etc, Thats what i've always been told baking by eye was, when you just guess and don't weigh out stuff

They are suggesting that they just whop all the ingredients in and it comes out good. Old fashioned grandma baking style.

Used to temp at the factories, no idea what any of this "baked by eye" stuff is, it's all fairly routine and automated. The mix is still weighed by hand for both the cereal boxes and bars however the rest is all automated, the ovens, packaging etc. The staff are just there to move materials around, clean the equipment after every shift/batch, cover for faulty equipment and to maintain it (no system is perfect). I wouldn't call the staff superheroes but they do work very hard.
