Liverpool are probably the best team in Europe in regards to defensive ability. They seem impossible to penetrate at times.

yup, took a superb defensive display with more than there usual number of defenders to let in two goals to the insanely good offense of Boro.

A combination of a very good keeper, a ridiculous amount of fouls by Carragher, Macherano and Lucas that go unpunished and a lot of luck is the difference between a title contending side, and Arsenal. Against Arsenal(pretty sure it was Arsenal) Lucas did 5 fouls in the first 10 minutes, and he's had a even worse game since then, any other team that would have been a yellow about 5 mins in and either backing off the entire rest of the game, or a red card. However he went the next 50mins or so without getting a yellow constantly fouling. Liverpool get away with it every single week where I see most other teams get yellows for persistant fouling.

My comment was in reference to the last few weeks where Lucas hasn't really featured and Alonso/Masch have been organised sublimely in front of a reliable defence. They made Man Utd's attackers look uncreative and average imo, and I don't think I've seen that this year besides that game (for 90 minutes)

Manchester United / Aston Villa / Real Madrid were awful, Liverpool were good, very good, but they only looked so good because of the appalling form of the clubs they have played.

Liverpool do have a very good defense, and Rafa does well to get them so well organised and playing so well as a unit. Manchester United have a very good defense, as do Chelsea.

But they all lack Mark Beevers
