From a personal funds view not really, us students aren't affected as badly as most people.
From a buying view yes: with the state of the pound and increasing costs I've been keeping a keener eye on prices. I've a set budget I'm hoping to spend come summer, and I've noticed the prices crawling up and up and only occasionally down a tad. Unless things drastically change when it gets to buying time I'll probably either have to side with the cheapest retailer and maybe risk a company I'm not too fond of or cut back on specs.
Without a doubt, as prices just keep going up. A year ago I would spend a bit here and there but as the pound is shagged hardware I just don't get pursuaded to part with £100 here and there anymore.
I vote that we officially ban the phrase credit crunch and start using the term money munch.
In answer to the OP, not really the credit crunch. Just havent felt the need so much this year. Will probably go for an upgrade when Windows 7 is out though. Hopefully some decent games will be out by then.
It certainly has given me 2nd thoughts. I upgraded in 2004 (3000+xp) 2005 (3200+&4600X2) 2006 (E6600) 2007 (E2180 for HTPC) & last year (Q6600 & E8400). I cant justify the upgrade to i7, 'cos all I do these days is surf the web & edit the odd document. I do game when the nephews come round, the highest spec game I have is the Orange box, that isn't exactly going to stress a E8400 & Ati 4850. So, its staying for a couple of years yet.
