The Iiyama B2409HDS and another aspect to the ratio argument

I've been shopping for a bigger monitor, currently I'm using a Samsung 2032BW which is a pretty nice monitor in itself but at 20" doesn't provide enough space for me. I think a 24" monitor would be ideal for what I do: gaming, video editing and multitasking with browsers, spreadsheets, documents, etc.

I've come across the Iiyama B2409HDS -

- looks kind of drab compared to my Samsung(flashy) but it has terrific specs otherwise 2ms, 20000:1, 300cd/m^2, VGA/DVI/HDMI the only downside appearing to be the 16:9 ratio...
..However, another feature is it's extremely adjustable stand which even allows it to do this -

Now that looks a bit odd to me, too narrow. However, I've decided I'm going to get it and give it a try. I could certainly use a monitor in that configuration in a number of circumstances. It's an interesting find I thought, has anyone seen this monitor in the flesh or have it? and what do you think?

I've tried using monitors rotated, but text doesn't seem to look as crisp when you have the sub-pixels vertical as opposed to horizontal (plus you'll probably have to disable cleartype).

i would really appreciate a review from you when you get it puppetworx if its not to much trouble :) im hanging back on the 22" Asus because of the 5ms response time and mabe going to get this instead since it has 2ms, i wonder when the ETA is on these hopefully when the new stock comes in they might be on weekly offer xd

Asus do 2ms LCDs in both 24 and 22" sizes ,here's 22" version http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=10&l2=89&l3=830&l4=0&model=2641&modelmenu=2.

I sound like an Asus salesman lol but I'm not :).

They stocked it last week, I was hovering on the buy button when the last one went.....no I never wept no matter what the other half says OK!
