ATI Radeon 5870 and 5870X2 specs revealed?

Nvidia charge more because they have like 70% market share - they can afford to charge an extra premium because people pay it.
I didn't say the cooler was the reason for the higher cost. All parts contribute and at the moment NV market position is not the reason for charging more but the fact that their GPU cost more to make . NV has been doing some rework on some of the PCB's to get the cost down on components.
Newer 260 have new PCB and the 295 Single PCB for reasons above.

Well hopefully the price of the Nvidia should come down if they have now found ways of making the boards cheaper to produce, then they can be snapping at ATI's heels in terms of the price wars, but doubt they will be able to price match with ATI anyway

I hope ATi up there quality on the cards this time round. I had a 4850 and was more than pleased with it, and am aware the GTX 200s where expensive cards when they came out, never the less, Nvidia seems to have ATi licked when it comes to how the cards look/feel.

Which lets face it, although not crucial, its always a bonus to have, especially with all these windowed cases you lot seem to have :D
I never get this at all:confused:

The vid cards all go in "upside down" so who gives a flying monkey's peanuts what the cards and coolers look like?

I dont think it is imminent from Nvidia, they wouldnt bother with that 295 single PCB if it was.

ATi may be a different story, which based on what they did this time last year, they could be going for an upset. I mean, imagen how monumentally ****ed Nvidias heads will be, that they release some 5870X2 that kills the 295 for same price, and is dx11.

Which would be good, since even for the nvidia faithful, would more than likely bring a sense of urgency to GT300 and getting it out sooner.

If ATI did manage to release a card earlier than Nvidia can handle at the current time, then they would pump loads of money into the production cycle to rush the cards out the door, which might bring problems for Nvidia later down the line, as they might trickle the cards out, rather than a stock of mass produced cards ready to fill the shelves with all online merchants. Will just have to wait and see

That might be the sticking point that could stop both ATI & Nvidia mass producing there cards enough to meet the sheer demand from all shoppers, as there will be a surge in the market when these cards first come out, especially if they prove to beat there previous generation by a big, big margin. They need to work the production yield issues out before they come to fruition
