Yes, you did before. I can't imagine that has changed. So if you want to be a sniper, you have to prove your ability. Same with any specialised class.

It's a stupid feature. When you kill someone, it doesn't say in the console. So you have to go to the enemies location to verify it. There have been many times when I've gone to restrain or verify a kill, only to get killed myself. And other times when I've killed someone, but not realised, and continued to fire grenades at them.
