Are lots of people still playing bf2 online?

Just curious, I still have a cd key for this but no disk. So before I go to the hassle of finding one I'd like to know if it's worth it?

Yeah loads, the 1.5 beta patch seems to have disappeared from the news though, anyone have any sign of a release date?

Yep, still lots of servers up and running with people playing. Full BF2 suite can be picked up for around a tenner these days and despite being 4 years old is still great value.

Last I heard about the 1.5 patch was that beta 3 got release a day or two ago. So it looks like they are taking their time with this one to try and get it right.

ok so what patch should I download if I want to play tonight then? Also I'm guessing I only really need BF2, as in the other expansions aren't needed?

The latest official patch for ranked servers is 1.41. And plain old vanilla BF2 will be more than enough to get you back into it.

Untold people still play BF2 mate & let me be the first to Welcome you back to the Battlefield. :cool:

All you need is Vanilla BF2 & 1.41 cumulative patch.
Infantry only maps/servers are Awesome fun & there are that many people still playing BF2 there are plenty of servers to choose from whether you prefer Vehicle or Infantry only.
This year has seen the biggest number of people coming back to BF2 & in my opinion it has to do with the Large scale of the Battles & the lack of real competition.
If you are into large scale battles with a drop in drop out feel about them then nowt comes close to BF2 IO.

I'm gonna have to re-install this. I haven't played this for about 2 years (coz I'm hooked on TF2 !!)

Remember if you don't have the disc, just download the EA download manager and tie the key in to the manager... This way it will be forever linked to you and you can download it without the disc... Well its worked for my mates anyway!

I'll keep this in mind, but honestly I prefer my own methods of digital downloading

Downloading the patch now btw.

I have a username and password but ditched the discs and manual. Is there a way to play bf2 without the key?

This dont work for BF2... try it and you will see it dont work

This only works for newer E.A games.

I bought the complete collection through the store so it won't work for me anyway. I believe my old housemate has managed to register his BF2 copy...

Well I've hit an obstacle it would seem. Does anyone know if global bans apply to cd keys or the EA account? Seems one or the other of mine is punkbuster banned and I have no clue why

edit:

I've just created a dummy account and it behaves the same way, seems my cd key is black listed

Never mind, I'll pick up a cheap one.

Get a cheap BF2 + SF deal as SF allows extra unlocks.

In my local store they had all four for less than a tenner, Thinking about it I'd get that if you can find it local.

By local store do we mean independent or chain? Also do I need to have all the packs installed to get the unlocks or do I just have to use my key?

bf2 is ghey, get Arma2

Bf2 feels so arcadey now after playing arma2.

BF2 is still good fun if u just wanna play a game for 30 mins.

Just bumping this question as I've got another complete collection key now, but it'll mean going to the effort of downloading a complete collection ISO if I need to have the whole pack installed to get the extra unlocks.

Can anyone confirm how you get them exactly?
