Diesel Decat

same reason you'd decat a petrol, its still a breathing mod at the end of the day...

the tuning box basically increases the fuel rail pressure. simples.

Why would you decat a diesel. Must sound silly :(

Faster turbo spool up (makes a placebo like difference) and as Fonzee has said, lets it breathe a fair bit better.

I've got photos of my home made decat somewhere, the actual part I removed is v.restrictive, you looked down it and could see a 5pence pieced size of light

Janesy B.. how many times do I have to tell you that a 'Tractor' is pure porn :D

Cummins 6 cylinder, not a Perkins..

Really? Most diesel CATs sit post turbo meaning the CAT would have no impact on the turbo spooling up.

You'd be suprised :)

My car only has one CAT, post turbo. Fitting a de-cat (and free flowing cat-back exhaust) dropped the boost threshold from nearly 4000rpm to about 3200rpm.

Passed the MOT today with the decat :D

Got an advisory for a noisy exhaust, but not classed as excessive :o

my rover 600 diesel sounds the same as before, the main reason for the decat is the turbo spins up faster and there is no turbo lag when you come back on the power after changing gear.

there is less back pressure on the turbo blades so it spins up quicker, simple as that and its not placebo
i had driven the car long enough with the cat to know the difference

My diesel has no cat and nothing was mentioned about it in the MOT.

My friends petrol 1997 CTR went through an MOT with no cat. Clean running engine, but if the MOT guy had inspected the underside of the car thoroughly he should have noticed there was a bit of pipe where the cat should have been... and failed it.

Year is 2004, and it's been through 2 MOTs at different places and nothing was mentioned.
