I will be using this hard drive for games, boot drive music and everything else i would ever need, i'm not really too bothered about a little bit of a decrease in performance if it's basically silent.

I've got a pair of these in a Zalman HTPC set-up. Very fast, very quiet: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-245-WD&tool=3

EDIT: Also got them mounted on rubberised mounts, so the drive vibrations don't get passed through to the PC chassis.

I have 2 of the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB

doing well for 2months now

Are you using your barracudas for playing games ?
If you just give barracuda some simple jobs like browsing, or using similar simple applications, it can stand for a long time.

velociRaptor is the chosen one but I more like to spend my money on Caviar Green than the others.
