College messed up my re-enrollment

Ok so last year was the first year of my two-year BTEC National Diploma ICT course. This year when I left for summer holidays I signed a leavers form and I ticked the box labeled "I plan to return to college next year to continue my course".

Unfortunately my college/form tutor failed to give me one other form which I wasn't aware of which was another re-enrollment form, so this never got filled in (Something I was unaware of until today).

Now I just rang college to find out why I hadn't heard anything since leaving last year, and found out that new students are enrolling this week! I asked them why I hadn't heard anything about this and they said they hadn't been able to offer me a place because apparently I never applied

So my question is, how can I enroll onto a two-year course and have my place offered to another student who's starting this year? Surely a colleges priority should be to get existing students onto their old courses so that they haven't wasted their previous year?

Anybody got any advice on where I can take it from here? I've been given a place on the waiting list for students to drop out but quite frankly I'm disgusted by this. Is there any other way I can try to get back onto my old course?

Thanks.

Speak to someone higher, if it really is their fault for not continuing your place on the course.

dont hang about either as the course can change. When I did my BTEC the guys a year down from me were going against a modified perspectus

Thanks for the advice. I just rang them again and asked to speak to the of the directors/the head of my course. Fortunately the director was very understanding of my situation and they've told me to go down on Thursday afternoon for a chat with them.

Although they've said they still might not be able to offer me a place they've called me in to discuss it and try to get me on the course again.

I'll bump this thread again then to let you know how it goes :)

They did this with my son when he was at uni, apparently it's a "common admin mistake" (or rather incompetence).

He got sorted in the end though, needn't worry.
