I just noticed this vid on a news site, how on earth could the yellow Seat driver not see the police officer:

A bit stupid of the officer to stop on a motorway main lane rather than the shoulder, he was trying to clear the way for the ambulance, but still, how could the driver not have seen him, anyone else find it odd why he didn't even slow down at first ? Officer is stable luckily in hospital.

stupid place for the policeman to be, especially on a bike!

driver was probably on the phone, or high.

What on earth was the driver doing?

Even the car who was right behind the lorry, with the lorry potentially blocking his view, managed to get out the way!

 indeed

Danny, by the looks of it the traffic wasn't that busy and given that the ambulance had two additional outriders it looks like it was either unusually urgent or possibly high risk.
The cop didn't stop in a silly place if the intent was to create an opening for the ambulance to move straight onto the motorway, given the traffic was relatively light (and the other lane pretty much clear).

The yellow car's driver must have been blind/not paying any attention to the road ahead to miss the cop with lights flashing, and the others moving to the other lane.

Hmm, ouch! Looks terminal too. Looked like he lost his lid?

The SEAT looked modified, which althogh unfiar to most, gives you an idea as to the type of person driving it.

Bad luck situation, but without knowing why the police man was blocking that lane it's hard to say whether he could have gone about it differently.

Quite. The copper clearly stopped there for a reason. Have the rest of you never seen a copper stand in the road to stop/direct traffic?

I'll bet he was asleep, talking on a mobile or fiddling with his stereo. Pathetic. Hope he enjoys some jail time.

All three cars in that lane made no attempt to move out the way. The copper was in a retarded place and the guy would have had a couple of seconds to see him once the car infront changed lanes, and he clearly went to go to the right of him.

I blame the copper entirely. He should have been off his bike, away from the traffic, ready to move should anyone not see him. I mean, he pulled out infront of a lorry without checking the lorry could safely change lane and with there being no chance in hell of anyone behind the lorry seeing him.

See it all the time on my way to work... emergency vehicle coming and people are completely oblivious until its right on top of them... just way to concentrating on their own crap...

In that situation tho the lorry driver should have put his hazards on and slowed up - its people in a hurry to get on with their own day and to hell with everyone else that leads to half these problems.

This is also true - I'm not so sure on teh chance of people behind the lorry seeing him - but it was dicey - he deff. should have parked teh bike and got out the traffic flow himself.

he didnt have to wait long for the ambulance.

think its shared blame, the cop should have known better and the driver should be looking where he is going.

Jesus christ.

Reminds me of watching road wars, they shiow clips from america and ive lost count of the times ive seen a car on the hard shoulder with a cop car behind it with the lights on still get rammed by some blind tit. Upto now i thought it was just an american thing, apparently not.

Seemed like very silly thing for the officer to do, clearly he's trying to move traffic over so the ambulance can get onto the motorway without issue, no problem with that but he should never have blocked a lane of traffic like he did whilst on his bike, just asking for problems imho.
