Right,

I got pretty damp on the way home last night even though I was wearing a goretex packlite jacket. I've washed it recently and apparently after washing goretex you are supposed to tumble dry it to 'reactivate' the DWR waterproofing. Unfortunately I don't have a tumbledryer.

Anyone know if ironing (with a cloth between the iron and the fabric) will have the same effect, or do I have to speak nicely to my neighbours?

I think an iron would apply to much heat direclty. And I would think they would say an iron would do it the trick if it could.

You can iron GoreTex, it's listed as part of the care intructions, but I think it's actually heat over too short a time to help the DWR.

Will get some nikwax tonight and talk nicely to next door. Shame.

It's worth a try, but you are supposed to do it for 40 minutes; I think that would kill the hairdryer...

I don't have one of those either.

I think I'll just speak to the neighbours, they have 4 kids and are always tumbledrying stuff.
