i currently have crossfire 4890 (sapphire vapor-x) and im getting idle temps of 67 on first card and around 45-48 on second. i thought this may be due to my motherboard UD5, the pcie 16x slots are just soo close to each other that there is about maybe 1mm of space between them i have 2 questions.

1) in order to lower temps i decided to put 2nd card on to the 8x pcie slot, for that ill need a longer bridge, would a 10cm bridge do the trick? and if it does how many bridges do i need 1 or 2 ?

2)im also thinking about buying an aftermarket cooler for the 1st card but i still havent decided on what cooler i am going to buy. some say schyte some say twin turbo some say t-rad2 i just want to find out which one is the best.

thanks for ur time :)

the other problem i am facing is, if i buy a aftermarket cooler and put the 2nd card onto the 3rd pcie slot, wouldnt they again be close to each other?

that seems alittle odd, see if there something in the fan ? like its chewing a wire :p

nop its just that the cards are too close together, they nearly touch. when i took of the 2nd card the temps returned to normal usual 4890 temp. how hot is ur 4890's ? oh and do i need 2 bridges or 1 ? the other thing is that if i buy a aftermarket cooler, wouldnt the cards again be close to each other when one is on 1st slot and the other on 3rd pcie16x slot?

The vapor-x cooling is already a powerful cooler, I don't really think you should change it. Plus, it doesn't really matter how many bridges you use.

hmm still i might refer to changing it. ill see what happens after i put card into 3rd slot but in the mean time i still want to find out the best market cooler for it

After having a 512mb 4870 with an AC accelero twin turbo, then a 1gb 4870 toxic, I would suggest you stick with the cooler you have got, the vapour x will be cooler than the AC one imo. Why don't you increase the fan speeds in CCC if you are that worried about temps as the vapour x fan is very quiet in the first place. You can even make profiles and save them as game shortcuts that will revert the fans back to normal speeds when you exit the games.

tommythetim my fan speed is always at 100% on both of them.

about the case, ocuk doesnt send to north cyprus and here in the north the options are very very limited. i currently have a TT Kandalf with 25cm fan on the side panel. was the best i could find out here.

+ getting a new case is a much more expensive option due to posting and packaging if i were to buy from and auction website. if i could sell my case to someone here it would be ok but i dont think anyone would buy it :D its currently the best pc in the island xD

I read somewhere that you should keep the front panel open as when it's closed it stops airflow flowing through the case, 'and In order to get effective cooling from the 92mm fan, you'll need to cut open the plastic surround with a Dremel.' I presume it's very hot in north Cyprus, compared to 'chankin' Scotland as well my friend.

erm mine runs at about 43c ideal on both but fans are up to %50 on stock coolers

but I have about 1-2inches between them

well today it was 25 degrees :D ill see what happens after i install the 2nd card on to 3rd slot if temps still high i might go for water cooling aswell... the thing is i have only about a maxium of 75 to spend so :X
