M25 led by traffic cop?

Exactly the same with IOW police being part of Hampshire Constabulary.

What, In Surrey? But regardless, you asked why that mattered, I gave my opinion based on the behaviour of traffic police over here.

Wow i wish my car only 'ran out of steam' when it got to it's top speed.

Top speed for the Corsa is around 145mph, I've had it up to 135, but had to brake at that point, it was starting to run out of steam, but could have gone faster.

Rolling road block.

i was once following an r33 gtr whilst in my a4 diesel years ago, both travelling at "german lane" speed when i noticed everyone being passed on the hard shoulder by a copper that then pulled in a couple cars ahead of us and then started to slow down :( then it stopped

i sat there thinking "this is a bit much, we were only speeding" but it was a rolling road block due to an accident ahead

Our local traffic police can get your speed whilst moving, and regardless, they most certainly would have pulled me. Although, I can't speak for how traffic police are on the mainland.

And my point is that traffic police will be the same on the mainland because they're managed by a mainland constabulary.

O RLY?

Not all Officers are trained and authorised to do compliant vehicle stops.

Cool. Thanks. Can you be pulled by a non-traffic, yet traffic-trained officer if that makes sense? Would an officer just have to report a car driving dangerously or are there mitigating circumstances?

If they are trained yes, they can do compliant stops - in Hampshire most are trained to do this. They can't chase you unless they are pursuit trained and in a appropriate vehicle though.

YA RLY.

The 2.3 T5's are the weapon of choice - top speed 155mph (hell even my 2.4T will do 140mph (supposedly))

Seems I was looking in the wrong place.

Absolutely anything will pull you over, over here - I've been pulled by a meat wagon before :/

140 is perhaps a true figure, I am of course talking indicated figures - the car over reads by about 2-3MPH at 120MPH, so its not unreasonable to assume that it may be over-reading by 4-5mph at ~135-145 indicated.

It depends on the drivers level of training, not the vehicle itself

I think we need to distinguish between "can do so legally" and "will do so". ALL police officers in uniform (and only in uniform) have the legal right to stop any vehicle, and it is an offence not to stop when asked so. But as stated, most forces allow only certain trained officers to perform certain types of stops, except in emergency.
