Butter/Marg with your Jam on toast?

loadsa butter and loadsa jam. It's the only way. I did used to be weird and not eat butter at all, on anything. But then I saw the light.

Also, vitalite/st ivel gold is fricking awesome spread thickly on hot toast, stacked up and then eaten when it turned soggy.

Real butter rocks, but I prefer un salted.

Marge is Ok, but prefer the creamy to the greasy.

Also: peanut butter makes a good substitute for butter/marge with jam.

But if I have peanut butter on its own then, I also stick butter on as well.

Chocolate spread = no butter, but sometimes I'll do chocolate spread and peanut butter...

Butter is necessary. It melts into the bread, and jam (home made stuff of course!) is fantastic. I always put butter on bread if/when I have it (though I don't eat much bread).

Dry without makes it too dry and unenjoyable for me - I also like the taste of the mixture of jam/honey with the butter. Besides savoury and sweet works very very well.

I <3 butter and I <3 jam... But I tend to avoid butter completely as I try and be as healthy as I can :)

Hell, I very rarely have bread, and jam goes mouldy in the cupboard after I've used it once (due to not using it often)!

Butter softens the bread and makes it more delicious with the jam. Without it, it's just fruity cardboard.

I would only ever put butter on with jam, or on its own though. I'll never understand people who butter toast and then put peanut butter or chocolate spread on top. Same with sandwiches - why put butter or margarine on the bread if the sandwich has mayonnaise in it?
