Hey guys im looking to buy a pressure washer for my dad this crimbo but im not sure what to go for. I've looked at Halford's own branded ones and they seem decent value for money? Karcher are the other predominant brand i've seen, how do these weigh against each other?

Also as a bit of an aside, am i right in thinking that as well as being able to use it to cleaning the cars they have enough pressure to clean patios too?

I have to add also im on quite a tight budget but obviously dont want to skimp on the purchase and end up buying a crap product.

Halford's own brand ones were discounted and came with a free vac a couple of months back.

Yeah i looked on the Halford site and 'Halfords HP1400 Pressure Washer' has caught my eye which is currently on sale for half price. Link

Also had a quick google and have seen the 'Karcher K2.36 Pressure Washer with High Pressure Lance and Dirtblaster' also half price from Tesco, it's slightly more expensive than the Halfords own item.

I dont think you can go wrong with the Karcher ones.

There's enough pressure to clean a car, although you dont want to be using it so close that it's shifting the really stubborn dirt as you could damage the paint - the brushes/soap attachments are good for that.

You regulate the pressure by changing the distange and most have an adjustment to narrow the jet - they'll all clean patios and things, you just have to use them closer than you would on a car

Nilfisk are good, I bought a C120 2.6.

Metal pump parts or something which for the money is really good.

I got mine cheap from Range after some good reviews of it on detailing world, I have used it all this year with no problems.

Nilfisk C120 2.6 is supposed to be the best sub £100 pressure washer on the go just now. I've bought my Dad one for his Christmas, cost £90 with a pile of useless accessories. :)

bought some uber powerful karcher jobby for £130 on sale last xmas...

was not impressed. quite a nice product, quite easy to use etc.

but it shifted sod all even on the highest settings. a finger wipe would actually be more effective. plus all that hard work of polish and wax layers you put on a couple months before starts to come off in no time too :( i hate to think what it does to paintwork on the average car that isn't protected/looked after...

i soon got a refund. i think if your going to get a pressure washer, just get a half decent cheap one (i.e. halfords etc £40 jobby) and go down the snowfoam route. so essentially the pressure washer is just being used for rinsing and therefore you don't have to go mad with pressures.

Don't bother with Karcher or Halfords!
Karcher are really poor quality. Halfords washers are ok but lack any kind of decent pressure so for snowfoaming etc it would be useless.

A nilfisk C110 can be had for under £50 and a C120 for under £100. These are the only 2 you should be looking at.

Cheers for the replies chaps. Ive heard conflicting stories about Karcher systems in the past. I think I may just go for the Halfords one seeing as the main use will be rinsing the cars down and cleaning the patio!

One more question before I do go ahead and buy, can I get snow foam attatchments? ie are.they universal fittings?

Bought a Halfords one when they were on sale a few weeks back........took it back the same day very very poor, poor pressure and every single connector leaked more the titainic! The Karcher we have now is much better, but I need to buy a snow foam lance.
