A very short run, my sleek audio ct6 cables have now been switched from a right angle plug to a straight, pita if you're like me having your player stuffed in your pocked.

So im after a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable, nice and short with decent cable and connectors something like neutrik or similar.

Any suggestions, it's either this or buy the wireless kit.

Cheap usually means poor, it'll be working with £300 customs so it needs to be decent quality otherwise it'll be picked up.

Besides the filter blanked out your suggestion so im assuming that retailer is a no no on here. ;)

Yup no line out on this badboy, the only gripe i have about it.

Anyway left it go for now i think i've found a source just means a bit of hassle.

Getting the cable isn't the problem more the length, like 3-4 inches.

I meant to say customs btw. ;)

Cheap doesn't mean poor, it's just a cable.

Why not just fit a new jack to your phones?

An adequate cable IS NOT going to alter the sound of the device.

An inadequate cable WILL sound "incomplete" (damaged strands of copper in the wire for example).

Just get the cheapest jack you can get, if you looked in those speakers you're using, you'd realise just how thin and "cheap" the cable they use to manufacture it and how even if you believe the nonsense that cables change audio, that a "high quality" cable going in to a speaker with thinner "lesser" cable wouldn't make the sound "better".

Trouble is i can't get the length nor the connectors i desire unless i plump for a alo cryo cable which is about £120 so sod that.

As for fitting a new jack, i could but the earphones will again have to plus into that making it stick out buy a country mile.

Anyway i've decided to do some more reading for now.

Id have a new cable made but sleek audio refuse to release information about their cables despite the plugs being nothing special, almost tempting me to buy a pair of westone es3x, least they use the common ultimate ears cabling.

As for the whole expensive cable being pointless, meh im a tart and i like anything shiny. ;)

Aah good ol head-fi, cheers for that i have a small soldering iron perfect for this sort of thing, guess this is the only way for me. :)

Yeah you're totally right and after reading that guide it seems quite straightforward, just a case of pre-planning everything.

Anyway i've ordered the following.

CARDAS CROSSLINK 1i INTERCONNECT CABLE
CARDAS QUAD EUTECTIC SOLDER
Neutrik NYS240BG 3.5mm Mini Jack Female Socket Blk/Gold
Neutrik NTP3RC-B Tiny Jack R/A Mini 3.5 Plug Black Gold
6mm PVC CABLE SLEEVING
2.4, 3.2, 4.8, 6.4, 9.5mm Heat Shrink Heatshrink Set 5m

All came to around £23, very reasonable i reckon, i have soldered my pcb on the scooby ecu with good success, this should make for quite a nice cable i reckon.

Good job , if you get stuck , don't hesitate to ask for help on here :p

How long are you going for again ?

2-3" just enough to park behind my cowon.

I've now found out the cardas od is too much so im currently asking on head-fi what's good, failing that i have some good 3 wire ixos in the shed that'll work fine.

Had to buy a new soldering iron though as mine is 12w and you need 25w to work with the cardas solder, should look rather tasty when finished. :)

Im currently fighting the urge to buy a portable amp so we'll see it's a very big rabbit hole, i've only scratched the surface on opamps etc, no bugger in this country is heavily into it, which is a shame in a way.

Lol , not a long distance to cover then ! :p

Have you seen the DIY Audio thread ? Worth a read ;) I've thought about making my own headphone amp before but the components are too confusing to buy , sooo many which are alike , I'm sure they'd all do the job but I like to get the best for my monies :p

Yeah good stuff on there, well they haven't replied but i've found a 50cm run of teflon lined silver cable, should be enough provided im careful, it'll litz braid it of course.
