Ultimately, more than 600 artists, animators and technicians contributed to the The Lion King over its lengthy production schedule. More than one million drawings were created for the film, including 1,197 hand-painted backgrounds and 119,058 individually colored frames of film.[10]

The use of computers helped the filmmakers present their vision in new ways. The most notable use of computer animation is in the "wildebeest stampede" sequence. Several distinct wildebeest characters were created in a 3D computer program, multiplied into hundreds, cel shaded to look like drawn animation, and given randomized paths down a mountainside to simulate the real, unpredictable movement of a herd. Similar multiplication occurs in the "Be Prepared" musical number with identical marching hyenas.[12] Five specially trained animators and technicians spent more than two years creating the 2½ minute stampede sequence.[

A little film called Star Wars.

I think the next one I was taken to see was Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.

That's two rather epic introductions to cinema.

For a worrying moment I thought it was going to be George And Mildred - The Movie, but that came later.

I think the first film I saw at the cinema was either The Jungle Book or Dumbo - I'm not quite as old as that makes me sound so I can only assume that a local cinema was doing a Disney re-run as Fantasia and Pinnochio are also pretty early cinema memories. I think I'd have been about 4 or 5 at the time and they were/are great films although strangely I can't say I'd call myself a Disney fan.

I'm pretty sure it wasnt my first film at the cinema but certainly one of the best was Rocky IV!

Not so much for the film but the atmosphere was incredible - during the final fight people were up out of their seats chanting "Rocky, Rocky" and chucking popcorn at Ivan Drago!!!
