Any particular reason for that sweeping generalisation of football fans?
I understand that the volume of football posts might have been overpowering the Sports forum, but making a massively rude generalisation about EVERYONE who likes football in such a manner is completely uncalled for.

Might I ask which admin/mod decided on such an insulting tag line for the Football sub-forum and why they thought it necessary to be so rude?

It's obviously a joke.
If things like that have such an effect on you maybe you should consider leaving the internet to go and watch the CBBC channel.

wow, of all the things to get annoyed about.
Surely getting angry about it is kind of confirming the joke they put up :p

It's not exactly professional, especially for newcomers to the site, plus it sets an inaccurate tone for the forum, which is actually pretty strictly policed, especially in regards to jokes generalising about specific groups of people.

none of the other forum taglines are jokes so it does look a little out of place :/
This is very much connected to my point.

Not really, I'm not being thuggish, mindless or abusive. If anything it's sort of a self contradictory statement considering it is, in itself, abusive.

I'm aware it's a joke, it's possibly even supposed to be ironic, but on a forum which is so strict about abuse, it's totally misplaced and bound to ruffle feathers. Hence, it's unprofessional.

I see no problem with it, its exactly the same as us guys who spend allot of time posting in the gym threads having a bit of a dig at each other. If we just randomly done it in other threads we would probably end up with a ban but we all know its done in good humour and I would imagine the guys that post in all the football threads are the same.

I know what you're saying, but the issue is that it's the actual mods who are responsible and it sets a precedent. If someone signs up to the site, wanders in there and starts flinging insults at people because of the team they support, then gets banned, they could legitimately claim that the tag for the forum suggests they are entitled to act in that manner.

Does anyone else apart from Shamikebab see what I'm getting at?

I suppose yes I do see where your coming from in the fact itl be understood by the regulars but may be misconstrued by an outsider

I see where you are coming from but why bother getting offended over a joke? 'Gym rats' 'Meatheads' etc, everyone is allowed their opinion and generalizations. If you don't post like a "mindless thug" then no one will think you are surely?

I suggest that you go and have sex at the earliest opportunity.
