Could we see Jesus?

Assuming you could get to a distance viewing point faster than the light arrives there from 2000 years ago - even with the most sophisticated equipment ever all you'd get is fragments of information - to build a complete picture you'd need an apperture time measured in years long which would be a mess of data from different times.

i wonder if in 2000 years time people will look back and wonder wether harry potter was real. then start threads like this about him

I saw in the other thread that on different stars and planets light has to travel so far that on certain planets we could still see the dinosaurs that roamed this planet.

No, light travels 1 light year per year. A star that is 100 light years away, when we see that light right now from the star it is 100 years old

The correct phrase would be "the light we see was created when the dinosaurs were alive"

Theoretically, does that mean if we could travel fast enough that we could see what happened on this planet in the past? Could we see Jesus lol?

The faster you go the slower time becomes, you would not see the past but end up in the future... Its hard to explain but if you went in a really fast thing, it would feel like you have been flying around for 4 hours 42 minutes and 13 seconds, your watch would confirm this, because it is true, however when you slow down back to normal it may be hundreds, thousands or millions of years in the future depending on the speed.

Several million people have already travelled forward in time RELATIVE to others by a very little amount, that is FACT.

this

and also because he never existed to be seen

You think such a massive story and legend would be created completely out of fiction?

It is more probable that Jesus existed and he was a rather clever chap, rivalled the establishment and was victimised as such. Two thousand years of Chinese whispers gets you a pretty good story.

Although, its all a bit too realistic. I prefer Scientology. Its like Christianity on Acid.

Isn't Jesus supposed to be coming back at some point anyway? Judgment day or something. I wonder if Jesus 2.0 will do better miracles... :)

A christian friend of mine (not me :)) belives the second coming will happen within the next 8 years, so no need to do all this time traveling we will all see jesus soon anyway. :p

Basically what you mean is, if we where at another location in space, far enough in relation to the earth, we could see (if we had some super telescope) the light from earth that was 2 thousand years old? So its like us now when we look through our telescopes at objects 1000's of lightyears away, we see that object not as it is NOW but what it was so many thousands of years ago?

My brain :(

"Could we see Jesus?"

No; he has been a very naughty boy and isn't being allowed out until he promises to be better in future

ps - and say "Please" next time!
