Hey all,

As a president of a society at my University, I'm keen to bring in membership cards to increase the sense of identity of the society and make the large section of our society who are members but rarely participate feel more involved.

But, if these things are going to last student abuse they are going to need to be plastic. A quick google gives lots of links for membership card printing and some very va va voom designs, but all the websites seem to be rather gimmiky and I'm not to sure who to turn to first.

I figure someone else would have done this before me, so if anyone out there who has dabbled in the membership card world can shed some advice I'd be very grateful. I'm after about 300 now, and around 80 new ones each year.

Thanks to any helpers :)

EDIT: forgot to mention, in case not all membership cards are, it would be excellent if these could be personalised in their print: name, course, etc.

Is there an actual purpose of the cards? If not, it is going to look quite gimmicky either way. If they are just to 'flash' around, I don't think its the best idea.

A better idea might be hoodies/t-shirts related to the society - its also more in-your-face promotion.

Just my $0.02

Do you need someone to design it for you?

I don't see why you couldn't incorporate their name/course etc?

Just give me some more info, and I'll have a go.

Do you want something like a credit card style (e.g. hard plastic) or would a simple laminated card do? I only ask because a simple laminated card is probably durable enough, is likely to be cheaper and you'll probably find that your university already has a laminating machine which may be free/available at a nominal fee.

Sorry, I probably haven't been too clear. I meant the websites offering the services seemed a little gimmicky, not exactly the kind of people who appear to have been in the buisness long, or who I ought to be handing money over to.

The cards themselves will be to get discounts at training workshops and potentially socials. But yes, a slice of them will be to 'flash' around. The society has a slight image I've inherited it with as being an insiders club, and I want to shift that somehow.

T-shirts and Hoodies are currently being printed, but I'm just looking at attacking the issue at all angles. :)
