AMD has new 45nm quad core – Zosma

Looks good.
AMD pipping Intel to the post AGAIN!
xD

(No I am not a fanboy, I am telling it as it is - I realise Intel is better in a fair few places)

I think we'll find some games that had the Xbox 360 as primary development platform will have up to 6 threads running. I think that's one reason why Core i7s (up to 8 virtual cores with hyperthreading) do so well in Far Cry 2.

Phenom II X4 960T 95W TDP quad-core is a six-core with two cores disabled, but we cannot confirm this at press time

drool.. whats the chances of there being certain motherboards that can unlock the last 2 cores like the older 3 core phenom's.

we could have a potential chip of the year here!! if they overclock well enough to match say a 3.6 i7 920 i think id snap one up as once games start using 6 cores its going to prove to be an absoloute peach.

2010 exciting times

Think I just creamed my pants. What you really want though is a dual core that can be unlocked to hex.

Can the shower / grower distinction be applied to epeen?

Im worried it'll just be phenom I all over again. Biggest piece of news I'm waiting for is if it will drop into AM2+ boards. Still torn if I should completely rebuild my 6000+ system or go for a 955 drop in upgrade. has it been confirmed that these will have turbo boost? If two cores are disabled does that mean constant turbo boost?

Pretty sure they are just AM3 mate

this makes me want to stick with my 550 chip for a while to see how things pan out before going for a quad. Thanks for posting!

Just taken from wiki - I'm interested in the Phenom II X4 960T (95W) great if it's true that it's a hexcore with 2 cores disabled.

Also the Phenom II X4 955 (95W), I doubt it will be as efficient as a i5 750 but great to see AMD CPU's becoming more power efficient.
