Who here use a radar detector?

Just interested to know.. I have an Escort Solo S2 Cordless and comes with me wherever i go.. Police where i live have no real crime to solve so they just sit around all day trying to catch speeders. It's not uncommon to see two a day with a radar gun pointing at you.

No point. Can't remember the last time I saw a mobile speed trap, I never really speed anyway so no problem.

More likely to be laser than radar. Even if you had a laser detector, unless it picks up someone else being caught, it's too late.

i use a front mounted laser parking sensor kit

also happens to tell me when the cops are hitting me with a laser gun

a radar detector can detect laser scatter too.

years back i had a bell 980 and 975. both really good

That, only time I have ever come across them is highlands/aberdeenshire, normally just after a tree hidden long corner on high speed straights. Once its pointing at you its too late.

Illegal is it not? I'm sure if you scattered their radar they'd give chase anyway. Pointless.

laser scatter. scattered off cars in front that have been targetted, detected by your radar detector.

they have been legal since about 2002 iirc

Well where i live, i've only been hit by laser once.. All the rest it's been KA Band Radar, and that's been A LOT OF TIMES.. Definately not pointless where I'm from.. Best thing since sliced bread.. Gives me ample warning, maybe 1/2 mile (especially as a lot of roads are straight here)

In a nutshell all the cops in the USA Fl and all the other places I've driven have all stuck to KA Band Radar as their tool to catch speeders.. Gatso's don't exist over here, so you often see one tucked away snipping people.

I have not seen Radar used in the UK for ages.

I've got a road angel. The previous owner gave it to me with the car. I took it out when I arrived home and haven't used it since.

On the drive home (300 miles or so) it went off a few times. I was sticking to the speed limit but I kept an eye out for any parked cars that might have been targeting speeders but never saw any :confused:

Also it stopped going off once I was north of birmingham.

I used to have one, but it used to go nuts past automatic doors so i got fed up and stopped using it

Maybe there was a rozzer strategically knelt behind said automatic doors ready and waiting for his opportunity to gun you as they slid open in a only in the movies (tm) slow motion style?
