alice takes up 6 gigs?

I pirate games and movies only because I wouldn't be able to afford my hobby of cocaine and hookers otherwise.

Well, that's fair enough :)

It's the pirates that aren't hooked on cocaine that I despise!

Personally I'm getting pretty sick of groups like environmentalists, anti pirates, anti smokers, anti drugs, anti cars/speeding, etc trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't do, but I guess those people don't believe in Liberalism.

that applies to all those groups except pirates.

even libels don't agree with counterfeiting :p

Hmmm you're right, however, following the 2 liberal parties here in the debate about piracy, they agreed that a good new legit download medium must first be established before changing the copyright laws, under current Dutch law it's not illegal to download films or music, only to upload...

Personally I'm getting pretty sick of groups like...

environmentalists,
Who needs a healthy planet?
anti pirates,
or to get paid for their work?
anti smokers,
or lungs?
anti drugs,
or working brain cells?
anti cars/speeding,
or safe roads?
etc trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't do, but I guess those people don't believe in Liberalism.

Yeah, all these things are there to spoil your fun. There is no bigger picture, it's all lies and socialism!

Who needs a healthy planet?
Co2 does not make a planet unhealthy.
And, why should we cut back so the Chinese and Indians can use the resources instead ? They are certainly thankful for us to try to reduce energy usage, it just means there's more of it and cheaper for them

or to get paid for their work?
From what, pirates wouldn't pay a penny for a thing anyhow?
The guy who invented Polio could have been rich, yet he gave away the formula for free.

I understand this point, however, if someone won't pay for it anyhow, it will make no difference to the makers.
or lungs?
My lungs, my body, nobody tells me what to do or not to do with it. What gives anyone the right to tell someone else what to do with their body, mind your own one...
Besides, you should thank smokers for smoking because you pay less tax because of it and they don't live as long leeching benefits past 65...

or working brain cells?
Smoking a joint once per year hardly affects someone, if people want to destroy their brains cells, then that's their own choice though, their body their rules.

or safe roads?
Dutch roads are already one of the safest in Europe, It's safe enough imo. I don't see why the speed limits can't go up as cars become safer...

In fact, the Road fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants per year are the lowest in Europe here.

The 50mph zones in some places at 3.30am on 3 lane motorways are completely retarded in my eyes.
Yeah, all these things are there to spoil your fun. There is no bigger picture, it's all lies and socialism!

All those ''bigger'' things are ''smaller'' in my eyes, people should enjoy life as much as possible, not be miserable just to live a year or 10 longer...

If a person actually needs to smoke / drink / do drugs / speed while driving / pirate software just to be happy, then those things arent the issue, their mental health more likely is.

It is entirely possible to be happy and live a fulfilling life without any of those things. Happiness isnt really an excuse for someone to go drinking and driving or injecting themselves with heroin.

Also, IMO if a person chooses to take recreational drugs of any kind, then they shouldnt be entitled to free socialized healthcare. Their body, their choice. They can do drugs if they want, and they can pay for their medical costs too.

...Well this thread certainly seems to have left the OP at a tangent..

There are plenty of threads regarding piracy. Surely there's not much point going over the same material again here..:(

I do find it astonishing how these threads can go on for so long. I'm strongly opposed to intellectual theft myself, so I suppose I'm naturally biased in one direction in these debates, but I just can't see how people can continue to defend it for page upon page. Fair enough to them and their opinions though I suppose.. (just my opinion after all :D)

Yes, but what I mean is that the money we pay shouldnt be going to get an alcoholic a new liver. Free was the wrong word.

We could try something like what Japan does about fat people, but without such ridiculous waistline requirements:

http://articles.sfgate.com/2008-06-13/news/17164666_1_japan-today-overweight-health-care-costs

But the cost of that would be astronomical with the number of fatties in western countries. Something similar could be done with people who are on drugs to the point where their health deteriorates due to it.

Wait, how did I get to making this post in a thread about Alice in Wonderland
