Imac 27" + i7 with a 5850

A quick question..

I have a windows 7 gaming pc with a 5850 and I'm after a imac 27" am I able to scrap my 24" monitor and use the imac as a monitor to my pc? and still play games ok? Or am i better with a mac mini and useing my 24" or buying a bigger screen.

AFAIK only 4xxx cards with native displayport can output to the iMac. Hoping a driver update can enable the 5850 to do so as I also wish to do what your talking about

@csm - Because I play games like crysis metro 2033 etc so the imac wouldn't handle it plus i do converting etc so the i7 is nice to have.

@goujon945 - Thanks, I hope they do! but it looks like for now i have to measure up and see if i can keep my 24" with a imac on the same table.
 
Another question (soz) the macbook pro 13" what rez does it run at? and what rez is the 15"?
 
The 13 is 1280 x 800 and the 15 is 1440 x 900 and both will output to the iMac if needed. I'm using the 13 now and it's great
 
thanks again goujon945, maybe a macbook pro 15" will be better since I could take to meetings with me and work on it.. As i do a lot of photoshop work.
 
No problem :) BTW there are a lot of rumours about an update to the Macbook Pros very soon so probably worth waiting a little while.

we have been waiting for the MBP update since Feb, so i wouldnt say very soon, apple seem to be focusing on the ipad for now
 
Thanks guys, I think I will wait a few weeks and think what's best for me, I may just get rid of my i7 and get a ps3 and use my xbox and the ps3 for gaming and imac for work as i don't seem to play games much any more
