hi guys my 4850 is strugling with bad company 2 im down to 1400 res instead of 1690 x 1050 with all on low.

looking at getting another 4850 or a budget of £130

any ideas would be appreciated

If your 4850 is a 512MB version not the 1GB version, then don't bother getting another to crossfire.

With that said, £130 would only be able to get you a 5770 1GB, which frankly isn't much of an upgrade from a 4850...

May be stretch extra £20-£30 to get a 5830?

I was in the same position, I had a 4850 512mb.

I bought a 5770 1gb which o/c's very well, currently running at 960/1320, this cost £120.

I've now sold my 4850 for £55, although it wasn't a huge upgrade, it only cost 65 quid, you've got the extra memory and dx11 features.

In the near future when the 5770 price drops, just buy another as they crossfire very well apparently!

id say cpu limited playing with everything on with a 4850 at 1680x1050 60 fps solid .

game aint that demanding on graphics but cpus a different ball park.

so if you could bag your self maybe a cheap q6600 and clock it that would be my first stop. this game loves the quads and can double fps in some instances from a dualcore.

I concur with the above, its would be beneficial to get a quad core chip.
Also sell your card and buy a 4890 s/h for a cheap upgrade if you want some 5770 beating performance.

Go GPU first.

Here is the same Core i7 920 processor with two cores disabled as well as HyperThreading. As you can see neither core is maxed out, but the CPU utilization is much higher. So again, a decent dual core processor such as a Core 2 Duo E8xxx or Phenom II X2 should be enough to get the most out of your graphics card in this game. While it is quad-core optimized, the game is not demanding enough on the CPU to warrant it based on what I have seen so far.

If you have the budget of £130 a nice 5770 will do, on max settings of course :D. Or save up awhile and get an 5850 then OC it to a 5870 standard

it sure is demanding on graphics!

yeah well im fed up playin bc2 on low with wrong res. I was going to upgrade whole pc to i5 or i7 but it was looking like about £350 and when i found out there bringing out new sockets next year it helped make up my mind,

I disagree with the 5770 advice on here. For £130 it's not really that big an upgrade. If I were you i'd add another in Crossfire.

Why are people not recommending crossfire if you (like me) have the 512mb version?surely a second 4850 for £70 would be a better idea than a 5770 for £130.
