Seems as though if u have the update all the 4g really offers is a better camera and another camera and may have faster processor.
My iphone 3gs recently got replaced because my last one was faulty and my contract is nearly up . I was wondering whether the iphone 4 is really worth it considering i could be on a 15 pound a month rolling contract rather than 45 pounds a month. What do you reckon?

Well nobody can answer that for you specifically.

Do you think that an HD TV program surpasses the same in SD for £45/month? Same sort if thing

Its a good question I thought....

I was interested to see what people would reply,

probably either 'yer the 4 is amazing much better than the 3' well worth the extra or 'its almost exactly the same dont bother'

The biggest difference for me is the screen:

You also get a HD camcorder, amazing stills camera, video calls, camera flash, faster processor, louder speaker, gyroscope, it's smaller and it looks cooler:

The screen is really good.

Apart from that, its just improvements in pretty much every aspect of the phone;

Battery life, camera, video, processor, smaller etc.

Obviously there are issues with the antenna. And the facetime is debatable to how much use people will get from it as you need to be wifi connected. If skype manage to do something with video calls on it on the other hand.

How big those improvements are over the previous phone, I guess there is a comparison on the apple site.

Is it worth it, well that is up to the individual.

Got mine on the 24th, thoughts so far:

Camera is VASTLY better and is now comparable with other decent quality phone cameras in my eyes. I've actually started using it, whereas with the previous ones that was once in a blue moon. The pictures it takes are actually good enough now.

Video camera is great but I do find it has a bit of a wibble to it. Hard to explain, but I see it in everyone's videos. To be fair you see it on other cameras too and if you don't shake it about it actually takes quite good footage - again, I've actually been using it whereas I haven't with previous ones.

Battery life is markedly better, which I'm very pleased about. I'd say the 30% claims are about right.

Screen - Amazing! As more apps update to include retina display graphics the phone gets much nicer to look at. Best phone screen I've ever seen, by miles.

Gyroscope I dismissed as a gimmick but if you try Eliminate: Gun Range, you can see instantly what the implications are for iPhone games, it works really really well and I'm definitely interested in what games developers will do with it.

Antenna - hasn't bothered me once but it's been in a case in day one. Disappointing that it's happened but we'll see if they fix it with software. If they do manage a genuine fix then all is forgiven. Huge oversight on their part though. Ridiculous.

The look of it I'm completely in love with. I liked the 3G/S, but this looks way better. Had a few customers say they don't like it though, too square. I love it. But I am absolutely terrified of dropping it. The band and the glass panels are so rigid that I'm convinced we're going to be seeing a lot more broken iPhone 4s than 3Gs. No flex to it at all and I think they will just.. explode basically. We'll see. I've always kept my iPhones in cases anyway. Buttons feel nicer too, huge improvement over the old ones. Also fits with the style of current Macs, the 3G didn't from day one and I always thought it was a bit strange.

Speed - Definitely a lot snappier. Some of the new games are very impressive. Just feels nicer in general use, got a bit more pep to it.

I'd definitely do the upgrade again. I did, in fairness, get quite a hefty sum for my 3GS which fully paid the early upgrade and the whole thing only cost me £135 of my own money, but it wasn't some special deal, it was just recycling my 3GS + early upgrade :)

All the screenshots of the display are zoomed in. For some perspective look at your fingers and make them look as big as the above photo. My guess would be you have to hold them about 2 inches from your face and you get a bit of the cross eye syndrome.

Indeed, it makes the difference look to great, but when I held one myself and had a good gander at the screen I was hard pressed to actually see the wow factor of the screen, it just looks like another LCD to my eyes.

Went into an O2 store to compare my 3GS to the in store one there.

Overall the screen is the biggest improvement, then it's a tad quicker and the camera I wasn't too fussed about.

Either way I don't think it's worth the £200 over my 3GS to upgrade, and hence will be waiting until next year :)

My 3gs got relaced recently also and i'm on the £15 a month contract, which i love, it's as if i don't even have a contract, i used to notice the £35 but the £15 is dust on my statement... If i was to get the iPhone 4 i would buy it outright, i can get about £290 for this 16gb 3GS then i would just need to find another £300 ish for the 32GB iphone 4 which i want in white. I'm find with my 3GS for now however, we'll see later on this year how i feel.
