Greenpeace activists sabotage BP filing stations

Large companies that have a major impact on the world need to think more then just into the profit of said company. Granted every other company does the same make money .. more money but this needs to change before we have any chance of moving forward in this world.

I take your point on GP doing this to make money themselves thats a fair comment but lets look at the bigger picture instead of blaming GP and calling them terrorists (which imo is way harsh)
BP invest over a billion dollars a year into renewables, they're probably one of the biggest investors in renewable technology about.

And no there isn't a cheaper form of fuel than oil, it's approximately half the price of non-hydrocarbon fuels.

Greenpeace have openly committed a criminal act (arguably a terrorist act), and identified the individuals responsible. Arrests should be and could be made promptly.

If they want to make a point, they should do it peacefully as half their name suggests

Terrorism?

How?

I don't agree with damaging private property but calling terrorism is just daft.

In what way is this a terrorist act? I don't think anyone's terrified are they, nor has there been violence or action causing threat or fear of visolence.

I know you're not directly pushing the barrow but a few people have labelled this terrorism.

Over-react much?

Thats a bit harsh, these people feel strongly about the Oil situation. So they caused a little bit of disruption to your "everyday life" big deal, these guys are thinking of the bigger picture in a few more years time.

Its all about profit with BP and large Oil companies which is shouldn't be. They should be working with the country to sort out these Oil problems and move on to more renewable energy, but of curse they won't do that because of PROFIT..

What bigger picture, the oil spill affects me 0.0, perhaps a little bit in the fuel price, I couldn't care less about some oil spill. Bigger picture my ***. Technology > Nature. Money> Nature.

Of course, a company is there to make a profit, and incidentally, share that profit to the shareholders and investors. Renewable energy is more expensive that fissile fuels, of course people are not going to step over, at least until the difference in price disappears.

Ask BP, they're terrified of these ********... They have caused thousands if not millions in losses. Damaging property is as bad as physical violence imho.

I really don't like Greenpeace and the way they go about it. To say that BP, Shell and other companies just think about oil is ridiculous.
Big companies like these, while it is a about profit, they do listen to the general public and do put untold millions in renewables becase at the end of
the day there not stupid and they know that hydrocrabons are finite resource. Investing in the future.

Greenpeace are sometimes very narrow minded and again jump on the band wagon of the media and public opionion to get more donations.

They just need sinking, they are pirates acting in international waters.

Indeed, what are the laws for defending yourself in international waters, If I was a Japanese boat I'd be tempted to build a cannon on it and blow sea shepperd to smithereens when they try to ram me.

Lol. Just lol.

I bet the "activists" will be straight home and putting on a kettle, watching the TV tonight after having a hot shower and cooking their food in an oven/microwave. That's probably after driving down to the petrol stations in the first place to remove the pins. I see they are also wearing plastic safety hats. How ironic that plastic needs fuel to make it. In fact why are they even wearing clothes? Clothes aren't made by pixies out of fairy dust either.

Electricity isn't made by some invisible god you realise? If the activists can show how people can live completely without fossil fuels then go ahead and show people. Stunts like this just show them as complete hypocrits.

The Japanese where looking at sending navy escorts out, I wish they did.

Australian extended waters has no basis in international law and is only recognised by ~5 other countries. IIRC most if not all have also claimed parts of Antarctica as theirs.

I'm liking this feed that they have on the website, just going to keep posting rubbish all day... :D

I'm a VPower user myself so keep shutting down those stations to achieve some minor news-time. Shame all those innocent people wont be able to collect more Nectar points on petrol today though :(

I'm not in the UK at the moment but heard about this.... just about sums up GreenPeace TBH.

Hopefully they'll get sued for vandalism and loss of earnings.

If someone were to and lock up these hippies I wouldn't exactly complain!

Greenpeace care very little for the "bigger picture" unless it means furthering their own agenda. If they cared so much about climate change why are they so vocal in their opposition to nuclear power? A bunch of eco muppets doing a publicity stunt to increase donations to their "cause".

i hope they realise that the organisation will go bankrupt when bp sue for losses?

bloody muppets the lot of them
