Demons Souls Euro Release

just managed to get through the game last night, now onto new game+ :)

its got to be one of the best games ive played in ages.

I have just reached the Tower Knight at the end of 1-2. The one main gripe for me about this game is the auto target-lock. It has gotten me killed/walked me round off a drop when I have tried to jump back a few times :0 This there any way to customise the controls?

Auto target lock? Do you mean when the game locks onto another target immediately after killing a previous one? I can't say I've ever had any problems with that.

Sorry, I didnt explain that very well. I mean the auto-face. As the target is moving and if there are multiple enemies i have often found myself trying to dogde one i end up going in a different direction, ie to the left and over a cliff instead of backwards.

I still can't see where the problem lies, that's probably because you're not explaining it well still - if you're locked on you're always facing forward, so pushing to the left on the stick means left or maybe I'm missing something.

I don't know, you are the first out of maybe a hundred OcUKers playing the game to have issues with the movement in combat. It's practically foolproof :p

OK.. I was stood in a tower with stairs going down/up around the inner edges. I was at a corner and had a target locked on the stairs below me. He was running up the stairs and i was moving back ward to gain more distance. As he went round the corner my character moved back and left as the target was still moving. To keep locked she started to move back and left instead of just back resulting in me walking over the edge.

That's something you just get used to with time, it's an issue that is prominent in all games that feature a camera lockon, it's just this game is far more punishing so you take note of where you died due to it more-so.

The ONLY and i literally mean ONLY control issue i've had that i felt was unfair was the tap forward+attack move with a falchion type weapon where the dude would do two quick swipes and jump backwards. This would occasionally trigger at random when attempting to move forward and attack, resulting in you jumping back. On 3-2 and 5-3 this was a massive issue as both those levels involved small walkways where if this move triggered you would likely end up falling to your death. With that said though it only applies to one of the many weapons types and it's not particularly common, but when it does happen and you fall into a bed of plague-babies it's not pleasing.

Picked this up today :)

Though i'm not too sure what to do next, i'm at the Balatarian Palace and come up against the two dragons.

I'm guessing that i've got to go and kill them, but i can't see anyway past the first dragon as his fire balls knocks me down and i have very little health.

Do i need to come back after i've leveled up and have a go?

Leave the dragons well alone, you will fight them later on. As you get stronger you can survive going toe-to-toe with the individual dragons elsewhere but for now just avoid them :)

I kinda thought so, a pesky little shield and axe is no way gonna kill two dragons in a game i've played for only 2 hours :P

I managed to cross the bridge where the dragon fly's over and shoots fire, but couldn't find anything, so i went back to fight the dragons :s

I'm pretty sure i missed something there, as reading back a couple of pages i'm supposed to save someone.

I haven't come across the maiden yet, does she appear after i've completed the palace level?

the red dragon that throws fire when you run in 1-1 and 1-2, Simple sprint behind it during its timed runs. You can stand the top of the first tower in 1-2 and hit it with Soul Arrows. after 30min it dies and you dont have to dodge and attacks. Or you can use arrows but it takes awhile.

And yes leave the two dragons alone for now :)

Oh yeah, if you kill the red dragon in 1-2 you get 7000 souls

After I finished 1-1 i ran it several times (though not all the way through) i did a circuit up to the two guys with spears before the dragons then came back down the tower where the first blue eyed knight is. Any further and you risk dying losing the souls you collect ( I found).

I would also make collecting and finishing the level two different runs :p

The Maiden appears after you have defeated the 1-1 boss. When we re-enter a level the normal enemies re-spawn but the mini bosses (dragon) and main boss stay dead when you defeat them the first time.

HINT: Go back over the bridge and down the stairs with the dragon - look for a lever - they open short cuts through the level incase you die again.

I am not that far ahead. I am on 2-1 :)

Don't bother farming souls until you hit 4-1 and 4-2. There's an enemy there that can be killed in a couple of mins and yields up to 6000 souls.

Tbh in the whole game i probably spent an hour farming in total, it's not too necessary if you play careful and make the most of every soul you collect, i just popped into 4-2 when i needed a litle soul topup to get to the total required to increase my SL. Buying items for example is something i never did. I also found that a sword you can craft about halfway through the game does damage based on luck of all things, so i got my luck up to 20odd which meant i did loads of damage and enemies were nearly always dropping good healing items, saved me loads of souls in the long run that did.

Picked this up earlier in the week, amazing game!

I originally started with the barbarian ( silly mistake! ) after 4 hours playing i gave up and actually read up on the game a bit.

Promptly re-rolled as a Royal, oh much better!

So far i've managed:

1-1
1-2
1-3 ( with help from a blue stone fella )
2-1
2-2
2-3
3-1
4-1

worked out that 4-2 is a great place to get souls, although i do i keep dying from silly mistakes :)
