England v Pakistan Test Series ** Spoilers**

More like crappy batsmen. With Gambhir and Tendulkar out of the side, the batting looks incredibly weak. The bowling suffers as well when zaheer and harbhajan aren't playing.
Got to admit that I've not really kept up with the other Test countries since the Ashes. :p A few of the Indian batting line up must be getting fairly old now. Are India going through a period where the replacements aren't necessarily up to scratch?

Yep Tendulkar and Dravid are 37 and Laxman is 35. Tendulkar's the only one out of the big 3 who still plays limited overs.

Obviously as each player retires they will leave a big gap. To be honest, I'm not really sure whether the replacements will be up to scratch, as there aren't many as of yet. Mainly due to the fact that these 3 have essentially been a permanent fixture in the side for the last 10-15 years :p

However, I am excited by one player: Suresh Raina he's 23, and played 98 ODI's before making his test debut last month, where he scored 120. He's the only Indian to have made 100 in all formats of the game.

Other than that, there's no real replacements lined up, as those 3 batsmen don't look like they want to retire!

I think the future of the One Day side is a little more assured, as it's mainly young players in the side.

Asif, Butt and Aamir are dropped from the rest of the tour...they havent been suspended yet as they have asked the PCB to drop them until their names are cleared.

All 3 are claiming they are innocent according to SSN.

All i can say is that if they are innocent then good but if they arent then ban them for life...Asif definitely needs to be banned as hes had his chances and still manages to screw it up completely altho its a bitter sweet pill as hes probably one of the best bowlers we have had for some time. Butt i dont really care much about and if found guilty he should never ever pick up a bat for Pakistan again. Aamir is the one im most disappointed with, 18 yrs old and hes get himself involved in all of this...such an awesome talent and throws it away because of greed.

Hopefully the investigation will soon finish and we will then find out what really went on with this spot fixing allegation.

Forgive my naivety but surely they can't all be innocent? I assume The News of The World have proved their undercover video is before the match? And the no balls discussed happened exactly when he said they would, considering how many balls were bowled that day - surely it can't be just a coincidence?

Well until the investigation is concluded then no one knows for sure but the evidence is pretty damning tbh.

The 3 accused of course are going to plead they are innocent and the PCB and Pak high commissioner have no choice but to support them until the investigation is completed.

Innocent until proven guilty.

What I want to know is how the fixer got into contact with the players? The players weren't allowed agents in their hotel room so...

Where theres a will theres a way;)...the players cant always be locked up in their rooms or be kept under wraps...yes the Pak players were told not to associate with this guy but obviously they didnt listen.

The sooner this ****ing BS is sorted out the better imo.

Saw this on NDTV

just WOW

Mazhar Majeed:

"I used to go out on the pitch to give the players their drinks. Whenever we couldn't get a wicket I'd have a lump of Vaseline on my hand. Shake their hand.

"They'd put it on one side of the ball and the ball would suddenly start in-swinging," he said.

There is a difference in being found guilty in a court/hearing than being found innocent. The news of the world video is probably not admissable in a court of law, so a case will have to be made without it.
I think one of Asif's doping charges had a similar outcome - he was essentially guilty but the proof was not sufficient so the ban was overtuned by a court.

He's an agent, so maybe he's allowed to go out for the drinks break?

Highly unlikely tbh...ive never seen anyone but another player come out to give drinks to players. But again who really knows what went on..could be that the guy Mazher is talking crap or it could have really happened.

Hasan claims the News of the World video allegedly exposing the scandal may have been made after the incident.

However, the paper said it "refuses to respond to such ludicrous allegations".

Am I the only one who wouldn't be too surprised if it turned out the video was after the match? Before this, has the time of the video come into question?

If it turns out the video is real and made before the match - the commissioner is going to be slightly red faced (not that I would probably do anything different if I were in his shoes).

but looking at the no balls- some of them were very far.

And butt was looking at the non strikers end when the ball was bowled, rather than the wicketkeeper's end.

I'm not sure, I hope they're innocent though. Then at least the game's reputation won't be as severely damaged.

Also, what about the actual guy who paid them off, what's happened to him?
