Ok, i want to have a dual screen setup, with a new monitor, needs to have a HDMI slot to hook up with my computer, as my monitor now is connected via a vga - dvi.

Looked at the BenQ G2420HDBL [24 Inch] - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-033-BQ

Seen this monitor up close, as my uncle owns one, and the picture is outstanding, look amazing, but i asked if there are any monitors which are Television Enabled, otherwise allowing me to watch television on one monitor, and then have my desktop on another, and then switch between tv, and pc mode whenever. However, i have seen a 25" television, same aspected as the BenQ, just not led backlit, but still have full 1080p hd and 2 hdmi slots, and built in freeview.

Does anyone know any Samsung monitors which have are dvb-t enabled? as he said this would allow me to watch tv on a monitor, he specifically stated Samsung, but i could not find any.

Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Cheers - Ash.

Could that be the Samsung T260HD?

TBH, for that price I would suggest getting a nice 24in IPS monitor (or 120Hz monitor) and a set-top freeview box.

Do you definitely need HDMI? I mean DVI should be fine if you are just hooking the monitor up to a modern graphics card and games consoles (or Blu Ray players) can be hooked up through a HDMI to DVI adapter. Since HDMI and DVI are electronically compatible there is no image quality loss due to the conversion.

swet, i understand, but i would like a hdmi connection, as i have a blu-ray drive in my tower, so i think i might see a significant difference in image quality here? not thats sure, and by a set-top freeview box, how much are these and where can i pick them up from, without naming any competitors that is :)

EDIT: Looked at the monitor, and carries quite a hefty price tag, which is my fault for not stating a price range that i am willing to spend. I would probably want to spend around about £160-£180 for a new monitor, think maybe 24" would fit nicely with this price, especially that BenQ and the 25" tv i saw. sorry about that.

If you have a blu ray drive in your tower then the image quality over DVI compared to HDMI will be identical . It has to be, the HDMI spec states that the two must be inter-compatible (ie you just need to change the pins around to turn a HDMI connection into a DVI connection) - no signal processing is done by a HDMI-DVI adapter.

Based on your budget, I think the BenQ you linked to in your OP is the best option for a new monitor. Unfortunately it doesn't have much in the way of extra connections - to get around this and hook a freeview connection you can either get a box with a VGA or Component Video output. Alternatively a decent Freeview TV card would be nice and allow you to record and pause TV.

i got two BenQ G2420HD, love them, HDMI, DVI, and VGA interface, dual screen via DVI at 1920x1080 res, i can connect my PS3 to one when i want, and you could get a HD freeview box with HDMI interface.

£284 for both screens delivered

found a Bush Freesat HD Digital Box, but cannot name the retailer for competitive reasons. its £70 and comes with a hdmi cable, would that hook straight up to my BenQ monitor and then i just need to stick my aerial into the back of the box?

presuming your monitor has HDMI, then it will be plug and play

i presume a dvi - hdmi would work as a plug 'n' play? as the BenQ G2420HDBL comes with dvi-d and vga only, so it makes sense to have dvi-hdmi, but then i would have to run my pc in vga, which would look rather crude i think on a led monitor?

EDIT: might try and find a freesat/freeview box with a vga slot on the back, that way i can still run a dual monitor set-up with the added freesat box using the vga connector on the BenQ 24"

Actually, figured it out :) on this freesat box, it has 2x SCART sockets, of which i can get a scart-vga cable on the web :)

ah, well, like i said, get a display with DVI and HDMI input, DVI for PC, HDMI for freeview and consoles etc

then you can use source switch on screen to select either PC or Freeview.

maybe if i did buy the BenQ, i could use vga - dvi convertor for the monitor and then dvi - hdmi, as the BenQ one doesnt come with a hdmi port. :) i use a vga - dvi at this moment, and the picture is great, even though its not a full hd monitor, but i thinkt his would work, either with a dvi /hdmi monitor or even if it has dvi/vga or vga/hdmi, vga/dvi, any of these ways, i could still achieve what u just said, just a matter of choice now.

the BenQ G2420HD have HDMI, DVI, and VGA interface, i have two, they are good, and i picked them up for £142 each delivered

pretty much the same apart from non LED backlight

you dont really want to use VGA for anyhting these days

i dont, did for a few months, then found a vga to dvi adapter, so stuck that on :) might go for the g2420hd purely because it has the hdmi, but cant get it from OcUK atm, atleast i cant seee it, only the led backlit one :|
