Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Had enough of my wheel already. Only had it a day but it's making the game fee like an absolute chore to play. 7 seconds off my time with a pad and barely 10 laps done in around 6 hours due to spin after spin after spin. Wish I hadn't bought it now :(

It will go for far more than paid for it at auction. Stick it on for £100 buy it now and it will go. You then get your money back and pay for the game.

I've already seen them go for upwards of £125

What are the best things to say in interviews to get other teams interested in you. No matter what I say, the interest always goes down.

Not sure I always just give all the credit to the team when I can and if asked about a move say I'm concentrating on the next race. All a bit pointless really.

I actually thought of that when you posted about them selling on eBay previously. I think I'll give it until Sunday and if things don't improve I'll dump it.

Well first season finished, got chimped again in the pits by need for speed f1 edition. Will hold on it now until a patch. Totally unrealistic lap times by the ai that it's difficult to know when to pit. Staying out longer on options does nothing for you.

I might video some of the hideous rubber banding I get. Leading a gp with just one Ai player shadowing. He pits and one that we dropped catches up. He pits then the next one and so on.

F197 had better control of 22 cars with the power of a calculator in comparison and it never had rubber banding. You could pump out laps to make a pitstop gap.

I find the career mode highly addictive and love the driving in the game, just let down by some rotten ideas.

Not too sure if the option and prime tyres make much difference on here, i always seem to get the same sort of lap times out of them, which is odd as I would have thought there would be a big difference.

Also with the engine maps that you test in R&D are they automatically applied to the car or can't you actually access them?

half way through the season, turned down offers from all the new teams plus torro rosso.

ive not had too many in game bugs, just the 1 race were webber didnt stop. im able to open up a gap before my stop and catch up the people on a long stint to see them drop off into the pits and me to cruise through.

i notice a big difference in grip between prime and option, cant tell on the faster corners were the car just sticks so much more.

i also think ive got the pitting sorted, i usually stay out 1 lap extra to when it says to come in. when going down the pit lane break at your mark and keep it held, once the car drops about a second later hit accelerator and he lets you go. i get on average around 4.5-4.7 second stops.

Arrhhhhh....
After seeing the work-around for the pit issue i decided to carry on with Career mode, all going fine and dandy until Spa, lap 7 of 9 in a 20% race, come in for my pit with 3000ft clear to 2nd place and there is a poxy Lotus blocking my pit garage, so instead of driving around the car, it stops completely, stupid driver is just sat there, my only option is to Restart the race.

I think its a bit hit and miss to be honest. I suspected this on marina bay, where I pitted late, but couldn't seem to make a big gap. Vettel was second till he pitted, but then came back out in the top 3 or 4 still somehow...same with webber, and when I pitted they both passed me. Though my driving wasn't exactly brilliant, so I'm not entirely sure here.

However, on spa, I stayed out long again and banged in good laps, and actually did build up a 30 second gap to 2nd place, which stayed in place as I pitted and went on to win, which was quite realistic. Similar story at monza, building a gap, and the gap stayed as it should have.

So I don't think there is 100% 'rubber banding', though sometimes I do question if the game is screwing me.

Desperately want to buy this but sticking to my guns and waiting for the patch. Been there done that with Crammond's effort - three months for a patch and worthless game sat on shelf.

I see rotters (connected to Codemasters) who was pimping the game here a lot pre-release has vanished into thin air.

Second race of my first season at Albert Park. Love that track, easier than Bahrain to get a good rythem going, though again I got a 10 second penalty as my left wheels were on the grass as I was overtaking someone :(

Only doing 20% race, and pitting within 2 laps of the start, easy catching up back markers, and made it to 2nd at the finish, then dropped a few due to the penalties.

Might have a go at Malaysia now :)

Stick with the wheel, it IS better ... might be hard to get the hang of at first, make sure you are using either the cockpit view or T-Cam view and you should find it getting easier the more you play it.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH

Corrupt save data :(

Sure I didn't do anything they tell you not to in the workaround :(

Gutted to lose my progress but imagine how pee'd off you'd be if you got to season 7 then lost it all

I'm using the T-Cam view. Never been a fan of cockpit or chase views.

I think half of my problem is I'm far too heavy footed, which is a problem in real life as well, and the other half is I can't find any position with the wheel to get comfortable. Don't know if my chair's the wrong height and/or angle but it all feels very unnatural.

Went back to the pad earlier and was quicker again by about 2 seconds around Bahrain so I'm around 9 seconds quicker with the pad and I can actually complete lap after lap which makes it feel far more worthwhile.

I noticed he'd completely vanished and he'll not be seen again I bet. I'm now racing Spain and yet again i've been screwed over in the pits...

the only way to pit in this game and get away with it is to pit on the first lap, and that's it... If anyone else pits with you from another team, you'll be held for up to 30 seconds, too long..

Just who the hell play tested this game? Codemasters have now learnt a very important lesson... F1 racing games aren't like their normal arcade games.... When you mix realism of the real f1 race into a game like Grid - well it doesn't work...

This is such a shame, the underneath components of the game are superb, but overall this is a bit of a turd in places.... Totally un-finished and not tested correctly...

I'll guess I will keep playing it till something else comes along but if the codemasters boxed whatever he was (Rotters) well you're user ID really does match the game you 'pimped' up...

I'm always dreading loading up my save in fear of being told it has been corrupted. Not good.

I have just been on the end of the Pit bug. Racing Singapore, In the lead, pitted 7th lap, Webber takes the lead (he hasn't pit yet) and continues to take 1st - WITHOUT PITTING!!! (and yes it was a dry race :D)

So annoying. Lost valuable points and lost the title.

That is it.... i'm not playing the career again until this bloody pit fiasco is sorted... four times I've played that race and each time I pit from no matter where I am in the race I end up at the back almost..*

And in one of those races I was behind webber and then his car just vanished right in front of me... Never to be seen again, then he pops up in the lead... its a joke..!! And seeing cars weave around in the braking zones is just showing how much of an arcade game trying to be all sim like this really is.. AI sucks.. I'm bloody annoyed.

To put this bluntly - game is a load of crap in single player mode. Rubbish ideas and really bad bugs that should have been sorted before it was released have ruined this game..

Codemasters - you owe me a refund.. lol actually if this game isn't patched i'm sure you could get a refund as game really is fit for purpose..

*rant over* putting game on shelf and going to do something else before I hurl the controller through the TV screen....

This pretty much echoes my experiences so far. Playing on legend difficulty now the AI seems so inconsistent, there is definately rubber banding to some extent, the AI's race pace certainly doesn't correlate with the qualifying times at least.

To illustrate this I just won my first race at Valencia, I was so far off the pace in P1, but pulled some of that back by qualifying, made it through to Q3 and qualified 10th, still nearly 2 seconds off pole though. Come race day I steam through the field to win comfortably.

Yet compare this with the previous 2 races where I qualified on pole and was completely out paced during the race. In Turkey as soon as i pitted the AI started lapping faster than my pole lap and finished 7 seconds clear.

I haven't had too many problems in the pits so far, not to the extent of others here at least, lost a few positions a couple of times, but that's about it. Also in China several AI racers never pitted and cost me a podium.

What are other people's experiences with tyre wear? I've been experimenting having it off for one practice session, then on for the next. With it on I can't seem to get anywhere near the times I set with it off, even on a fresh set of tyres. Something seems a bit off.

It's a shame these issues spoil what underneath is a very good game.

im the other way round, im faster with the wheel and can control the car a lot better, with the pad i was always spinning
i couldnt use the wheel on my lap, it was to close to me and to low
it stopped me using the full turn of the wheel
so i now have it on a little table and its made all the difference
