This week I did something good (Organ Transplant Register)

I signed up on my driving licence, seriously if the last thing I can do is give anybody....ANYBODY a better life the so be it, alcoholic or smoker, drug addict I wouldn't be happy but hey what can I do , life is life, my guts are real, keep the going. I am not selfish, take everything, I am a long time dead so.....

You are Born
You hopefully live life
You die

It should be on by default and **** the religious or sentimental bullcrap. People's lives are at stake here and you don't deserve to go to whatever fanciful version of the afterlife you believe in if you refuse.

your little rant gets you nowhere in making people sign up, they have their reasons, deal with it.

Im signed up and ive also signed up to have somebody take my brain and do research on it.
Someone i work with has parkinsons and there was a thing on breakfast news once about people not leaving their brains for research is slowing them down.

Only issue is as a diabetic most of my organs are not suitable for transplant so i say let them do whatever research they need on my remains.

Bit of a look at me thread? Although if it gets another person to sign up then well played I suppose.

Been a donor for years and they can have me corneas/lungs/balls so long as im defiantly dead. Any real reason why you feel uncomfortable with your eyes being re-used?

Honestly not sure, I kind of remember signing up sometime ago.

Regardless I would, what the hell do I need my body when I die. If it helps some one out, in which having my body parts will make them so much more awesome, they can have it.

I picked up the leaflet on discharge from the hospital :p
Have signed the card, just need to fill in the form and send that off.

Signed up on a bit of a whim some time ago, unsettles me thinking about it now but I'll be dead so won't affect me.

Please make sure you tell close ones that you are on the register though, if you die it could be a nasty surprise when they coming knocking to take the organs out.

There's something a bit undignified about being cut up when you're dead.

Really?! :D What dignity would one have left? I see it as performing one last service for those in need.

Of course though it is opinion and personal choice, I'd hate to think anyone would judge anyone either way.

How many people are on the bone marrow register, I intend to sign up soon since I sat in on a presentation done to students where I work.

I'm signed up and I've made my next of kin aware that I am on the register, I'm almost sure they'd be fine with it whether I'd pre-warned them or not but it's always wise to ensure that anyone who may have a veto over what happens to you is aware of your wishes. I ticked for anything and everything to be taken, my body parts are of no use to me when I'm gone so if someone else can live a better life because of them then good luck to them - equally I'm not all that bothered who they go to and the relative "worthiness" of them as a recipient, once I'm dead I'm in no state to be making judgements about how they choose to live their life.

I signed up when my driving licence photo was renewed.

They can have everything, including my lasered eyes.

Pathetic, it's illegal to sell your organs out of free will while you're alive, but it's completely okay to give them away for free after death to the same human beings who forbade you to use them as you wished while you were still alive?

No way I'm signing up, over my dead body. Cut up and sliced, presumably.

You want my flesh, you better pay for it. Greedy ********.
