Like an idiot I went for Radeon 5450 thinking that should be fine it isn't :(

Has anyone a suggestion for a passive card suitable for Pro Evo 2011. I can't get my head round all these numbers and letters

Hi there, may I ask what resolution you are playing at?

It makes sense that the game doesn't run too well on a 5450 - as that card is really designed for HTPC use, not gaming.

If you want a passive card that will play modern games well - then the current fastest card with an installed passive cooler is a 5770 , just ensure you get one that comes with the passive cooler - I believe Gigabyte and Powercolor make such a card. I also hear that Powercolor have recently revealed a passive 6850.

If your budget is more modest, the a passive 5670 would be a good choice and should play most multi-platform games very well.

OK cool you see the thing is I only occasionaly play games just wanted to be able to play. Pro Evo 2011.

So will it be nice and cool for websurfing etc ?
Is there anything less powerfull that would do the trick ?

If you just want to play occasional games - then a passive 5670 would be ideal (the Sapphire one look great). Have a google for "sapphire 5670 ultimate", can be had for under £100.

However, the "Gigabyte 5750 Silent Cell" is only a bit more expensive and a good deal more powerful.

I wouldn't suggest going any lower than a 5670 - as you start seriously compromising on gaming ability for small cost savings at this level.

Hmm maybe not

The GT 430 is a useful little media centre card, though it's not most powerful on offer. If you want to play the odd game, and want a passive card today, then we’d recommend hunting down a Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 Ultimate instead; it costs a little more but performance is improved by up to 50%.

Yea, I wouldn't suggest going for a GTS 430, here is a review.

It is quite a bit slower than a 5670 - which in many games at 1080p makes the jump to the 5670 makes the crucial difference between "generally playable" and "smooth".
