If you had 25,000 to spend, would you...

thats basically what i ment.

Part of me would love to get a old banger to park in the supermarkets, then i wouldn't care.

Bloke at work has the right idea.

Aston Martin V8 vantage for the weekends.

old shape focus ST170 to park in the multi story car parks and stuff and not care about.

Oh right, I don't care if my house gets blown up then, it's all insured. The point is that a) you are trusting that the insurance process will restore your pride and joy to exactly the condition it was in beforehand and b) forgetting the hassle and expense of excess and time spent sorting it out, having a crappy courtesy car, etc.

Talk about how to miss a point :/

And yes I would trust my insurance company to restore it to how it was, if it wasn't, I'd be on the phone getting it sorted out until I was satisfied.

Point is he goes and parks wherever in his car due to the fact that if anything happens to it, he can take it though insurance to do get it sorted out. Obviously that doesn't mean he parks like a nob where other people are more likely to hit it because its insured, but if hes in a rough area then it won't stop him.

It's what its there for ultimately. Also, if you spend a decent wedge of money on a car and then can't afford to cover the excess if needed, you shouldn't have the car as you cannot afford it.

Trouble is you claim for the vandalism on your own insurance, losing your NCB.

Not sure i'd be so blaze personally.

Can't say how I'd be as the most expensive car I've owned was 2.5K and even then it was a Rover with stuck on tat :p - And I won't be buying a 25k for a long time yet!

I'd really be in two minds. I love the Focus RS, and i'd love to own one, but it is at the end of the day a FWD hatchback. I'd probably haggle as far as I could and then make a decision based on that as i'm pretty sure you could get one under £20K now.

Your porn photography business not going well? :p

Someone mention porn :D

Oh it is, photography businesses take time :) - I've done 8 weddings this year (assisting) and 1 who booked me :) (was Sirrel Squirrel from this forum) - Next year I've got 3 wedding bookings so far and lots booked up to assist, give it a couple of years and we'll be rolling :) (Considering I've earn't back over half of what I've spent on photography equipment this year that's a lot better than expected!)

Well thats the idea anyway :p

I saw an Evo 8 the other day - Registration G15 Evo. It was an Evo 8, with an "MR" badge and an "Xtreme" badge.

Is that an official model ? Never heard of it ?

Evo 8 MR exists alright as an OE model.

Xtreme are a car dealer / tuner in Dudley.

They occasionally do special editions that they've tuned in various manners.

May be that they just sold the car at some point however:

this again highlights the issue that several of us have mentioned.

Its not what car would you buy for £25,000, its what car can you afford to run for £25,000 as the running costs of a B7 RS4 won't be cheap.
Sorry didn't read the replies before responding. :p

No, you've made a post that highlights a good point.

Can the OP afford to run / insure something like the above ?

He's not said, He's not even said how old he is and how likely he is to be insured for a sensible ammount.

No point dreaming of Supercharged Mustangs, Corvettes and RS Audi's if he's only 20 or something.

I dunno, plenty of specialists who deal with that kind of thing and probably won't charge an insane price for it.......My Corvette, while obviously not in same league value-wise, was £550 FC at 21 :)

Relatively inexpensive servicing on Corvettes too. Ace! :D

OP is 31.

He is also in the position to spend £25,000 on a car. Call me naive, but unless he's got his priorities seriously messed up and is financing the money through his eyeballs he should be in a position just about to deal with higher than usual running costs. If he's not why the hell is he spending 25 grand in the first place?

This is true.
