Taking the OH to Milan for her 21st, arriving 17th Jan and leaving 20th Jan.

Got the flights sorted but need a hotel, I've been before and loved it (but was only there for some football) and I'm really lost.

I'm looking for a nice hotel, near a tube I'd imagine as I was before and that made everything so easy and for about £200 all in.

Any ideas?

I know you're looking for personal recommendations, but I took pity on your lack of replies :p...have you looked at Trip Advisor? I often use this site for city breaks and based on that site's top ten hotels, I've never had a duffer yet.

Yeah I've been looking on there and last minute, I'm either finding turd or stuff thats nice but too far out or not near a metro.

I found one but it was apparently 3miles away from the centre but with no metro it was like a 20minute tram ride in.

We will likely be eating/drinking out late and it was 30~ euro taxi back which didn't seem great.

Ive been to Milan twice with my GF, both times only as a stopover for another destination - cant say thats a bad thing, Milan reminds me too much of London, just more grey and industrial! Venice is a lot better! Even Rome as well...

Anyway I cant recommend any 'decent' hotels as both times we just arrived at Centrale station, and I walked around and found a cheap hotel for about €50 a night for us. There are a few decent hotels around the station, not sure how much they are though as I didn't ask :p

I would also recommend trip advisor though, I always post on the forum there before travelling to get recommendations!

I've told her it's Milan as she needed to book the time off so can't change the location now.

I spent an entire day looking round, did the sites and the shopping and loved it. I'm meh with London and hated Paris.

The place I stayed at was like 30seconds away from a Metro and was only 35 euro a night but it was just a bed and room basically which won't do for a 21st birthday!

Are you interested in Hostels too? If so, I'll see if I can dig up the hostel I stayed in

Edit: Ah, seems like from the above post that hostels won't do! Never mind!

I really enjoyed Milan when we went across for New Year. Ate in some really nice restaurants and there are plenty good (if a bit expensive) shops. We stayed in the Hotel Manin which from what I can remember was nice enough.

Looks very nice but it's about 3x my budget :(

St George and Berna hotels are both nice enough and should be in your price range. Park Hyatt and The Gray are both great if you can spare the dosh.
