I'm going to wait for the next i7 920 style revolutionary Intel chip before considering a CPU upgrade. The Phenom is doing ok for itself at the moment.

First Intel Sandy Bridge quad-core benchmarks: Nearly as fast as Core i7 980X, could make low-end graphics cards obsolete, with comments like this on the net it must be pretty decent.
Of course it's there right and I don't think anyone has said anything to the contrary? If people want to change well that’s their right ?
Intel® Core™i7 @ 3.36GHz . . . sounds decent enough, must make light work of your whatever "work" it is given no? . . . or are you a benchmarker?I have an i7 920 and it runs very hot .I have it oc'ed to 3.36 atm but any higher and 2 of the cores start to get really hot .It is also the DO version and I have tried resetting it ,reapplying the thermal paste and also different cpu coolers ,all to no avail
I'm not sure anyone did actually say you don't know what your doing? . . .don’t tell me I don’t know what I am doing ? My first computer was a 486 Intel which ran at 50 mhz and I also studied computer information systems at university .
I would have to say pigs will fly before I part with several hundred pounds for the "pleasure" of using a mouse to change BIOS settings and enjoy slightly quicker boot times . . .also like the look of the new EFI bios that comes on sandy bridge boards ,I am hoping that it will significantly increase boot times and the fact that you can use a mouse in it also appeals to me .
No not at all?I think that any upgrade is a personal choice and well saying that people have more money than sense totally negates peoples other reasons for changing
Nobody has said anything about right or wrong, instead we are just examining the "reasons" and "logic" behind what people are thinking . . .It also presumes that people are wrong to change and well their not ,some people can’t afford it ,some people are too tight to spend the money and some people are happy with their machines performance
I think you can make your own mind up even without reading a single review? . . . what on earth can a new PC do for you that your current PC cannot do? . .I will see what the reviews say after its launched and I’ll make up my own mind then .
Take new forum member GoogalyMoogaly for example . . . a man who by his own words is too stupid to get a good job that pays him well but yet he still wants to pay out £200 to acquire a new mobile phone for features he will not use and simply for something to play with and he wants to know he has the "bestest" . . . I'm not saying anything he is doing is right or wrong but I think he would have a hard time to convince me to do something similar as there doesn't appear to be much "sense" in doing so? . . .
Why are some spending £150 on 5870's in MM....They want more FPS in games?
What is your current card not doing that warrants the upgrade?
BW stop being so self righteous and hypocritical
People always want more speed even if they need it or not. And quite frankly who cares. Let them get on with it.
4-way SLI? What use is 4-way SLI in a server lol?
Who is upgrading to Sandy Bridge from they're current i7 (Bloomfield I think?)?
