OK, Im looking for a bit of advice or some contacts that I can get in touch with to make something happen..
Im planning on proposing to my girlfriend next month, and my original cunning plan has been cancelled and Im onto plan B!!
I wanted to take her to Venice and propose, had it all planned and researched, but her mum has decided to get re-married this year in Jamaica, and we cant afford to go, so as part of the proposal, I will get her a plane ticket to Jamaica instead of taking her to Venice :-(
That means that Im stuck and have to propose in the UK, with not much money, but want to make it special.
Plan B involves getting the proposal in lights at Piccadilly Circus..
Now I don't know how possible this is, I know LG were running a promotion that has finished now, but Im going to try.
I was trying to find who owned P-Circus, but I can't get any contacts..
I have contacted TfL, Coca Cola and LG, as they have big adverts there, so maybe they will know or can help me..

I was just wondering if anyone in the trade has any information on the best way to achieve this, or have I covered the routes already?

It might cost too much too do anyway, but until I try, I don't know...

Im at work, so won't be able to reply instantly, but will keep an eye on this thread to pick up on any helpful advice..

Her mum is getting married in Jamaica but her daughter can't afford to go... that just seems a bit weird, but what ever.

Problem is you'd have to get her to go with you through Piccadilly Circus at that exact time and all that, which might be hard...?

Opportunity here - round up a few hundred OCUK members and get them to lie down in a field to spell out 'Will you marry me?'

Community spirit, yo.

how about a nice cheesey romantic traditional proposal?
fancy dinner, you uneasy and nervious through out you then bottle out, on a quiet wlak home in the rain you pause at a bus-stop, drag her into the shelter get down on one knee and do the deed.

Have you discussed proposing, is that the sort of thing that she likes?

I'm only asking because I've had this discussion with my better half and it turns out the things I had thought of were waayyy off.

Not really, we had the money last year, but the wedding was postponed indefinately because of the volcano, and then the money got spent on the house. Her mum was going to get married over here, but decided over xmas to go back to plan A and do Jamaica in May

Us getting 2K+ together to go out there by then isn't going to happen which is why I will pay for her flight using the proposal money and try to sort something romantic here
It took us 18 months to save up last time :-(

There are some nice places to eat that are all quite near, so we can have a meal, drink close by and then I can drag her out to see the sign hopefully..

Like it :D

She is an old romantic, like me, so will be up for the whole proposal bit..

You are struggle raising 2k, i can tell you advertising in a prime location for shoppers/tourist such as Piccadilly Circus will be a lot more than a holiday!

Just do it the old fashioned way. One one knee. I've heard that most women really don't like this flash potentially embarrassing public type proposal.

The old fashioned way is cheaper too.

Picailly is one of the most expensive advertising sites in the world.

I work for an advertising company.

Send me a PM if you want further details and i might be able to point you in the direction of something. But bear in mind none of this will be cheap...but it won't be £1000/min ;)

Yep, it's pretty shocking.

To the OP: I'd recommend that you get on the phone to Coca Cola and LG's PR departments. If they'll let you use their screen, you might be able to convince them that this would be a good PR stunt for them and agree to let them film/use the "event" for advertising purposes to build the brand. The public would love it, and you get helped out by the company.

Don't just send an email though - you need to get on the blower and ask to speak to the head of PR or their assistant.

It's not how you do it, its where you do it, imo.

Ouch!! :eek::eek::eek:

Coca Cola have replied back and said it is not possible

LG have replied back and said that they aren't sure how it would work, but they will look into it and see if it is possible..

SeatIbiza - will drop you a PM - your trust isn't enabled? You can PM me?

Sp00n - I totally agree, which was why Venice was 1st option, as it means something special to both of us, but I can't justify spending the money on that when I know she is bothered over not going to her mums wedding. A plane ticket to Jamaica will really mean something, so I can give up on Venice for that..
I then thought about the pub where we first met, as we still go down there every now and again, as we both think of it as our pub, even though we have moved away from there, but I didn't want to propose in a pub, even a special one..

I want this to be a big as possible, as it's the most important thing I will have done so far, and yes, she will be a bit embarrassed, but I know her enough to know that she will love it..

I find that a lot of the time people don't like what they think about, but should it be apparently spontaneous then they get overwhelmed in the excitement and love it.
I have no idea why potting the brown comes to mind here!
