Hi
I need to upgrade my graphics card now that i have dual monitors as my old one is struggling abit. Ive been looking round and im not sure which i should go for. Ive read that a 2gb card is good for dual monitors so i found this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-128-GW&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1830 but a 2gb model. Or should i get a GTX 470 there about the same price as the one above but i dont know which would be the best.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there,

I'm sorry man, but you will need to remove that link ASAP as it is against forum rules.

This link instead would be fine.

Before I recommend a graphics card, may I ask what you will be doing with it (apart from dual screen)? Also, what is the spec of the PC you will be using it with and the resolution of the monitors it will be running?

cmndr_andi thanks for that i missed that when i read the forum rules. Sry i did mean to say what im using my PC for completely forgot. I use it for gaming and i use 3d modeling software and games engines. The resolution i currently hav is 2654 by 900. I have Quad 2.66 and 4gb of ram.

That's fair enough, welcome to the forums :)

You mention you can get a GTX 470 for the same price as that GTX 460 - if it comes with a full warranty then I would get it.

Another thing to consider (would require more money) is the AMD HD 6950. This is very fast card, has 2GB RAM and if you are up for it - a good chance of unlocking to the even more powerful 6970.

May I ask what make and model of PSU you are running?

That power supply will be fine for any single graphic card on the market (excepting maybe the 5970 and 480 GTX).

Absolutely any graphic card on the market today will drive two monitors for general, non-gaming use. You certainly don't need a 2GB or even a 1GB card for that.

For Gaming and 3d modelling, however...
A 6950 is be an excellent choice, but if you can get a 470 for the price in the OP, definitely get that - it is an excellent deal.
